HOW DO I BUILD A BIGGER UPPER CHEST! I get asked this question all the time and to be honest, I was like 99% of you and always thought incline was the best...... then I got asked to compare these two exercises... did my homework.. and realized even I was wasting time doing incline in terms of trying to isolate that specific area.

You guys are going to REALLY love this video and expect to see some reverse-grip barbell bench pressing in an upcoming video!

Noticed on this vid and others you usually bring the bar down to touch the chest ... what are the benefits of a full stretch as apposed to bringing the bar down to say around an 1" or so above your chest (keeping arms from going past 90ish degrees)?

Thanks,
G

So funny. I just started doing these a couple of months back. They really are better for the shoulders and really do focus on the upper chest fibers. Doing them on a flat bench is what you need.......do not do these on an incline as it defeats the purpose.

I have been doing this for last 3 months and my triceps got some extra attention because of it.

After 100 kgs I have to tilt the wrists (palm faccing the roof) so that the barbell does not slip and kil me. Is the wrist tilting ok???

I have heard that doing reverse on incline works better. but I need to do more research first to make sure it doesnt bring in more shoulders too.

and those are great suggestions @ohawkey! Added to the list!

yeah John, lots of people were asking about doing it on incline... I am trying to find some research to prove if affective or not.. you don't happen to have any links do you? I know I need to make a video about Incline Reverse-Grip Barbell Bench Press

@ScottTousignant do you have any? You geek out and must know something! :-D

You should be ok bro! If you want, maybe try some wrists wraps to help with support of your wrists with heavier weight? We don't want to ruin that pretty face man! :-D

I haven't come across any research on the Incline Reverse Grip. Maybe because of it's lack in popularity?

A nice alternative would be to use dumbbells where you are in a supinated hand grip at the bottom position then maximally pronated postion in the top position to intensify the contraction of the upper pecs.

Hell yeah finally bustin out the Reverse Grip Bench! This is awesome for the Upper Chest however I have seen people do them on incline but there really isn't the research to suggest they are better than flat. Flat works your upper pecs 30% more! I don't do them alone because I like to use the False Grip over the Hook and I don't want to die just yet.

I have been training coming up on 6 years and have made some great gainz. I've done a lot of trial and error on myself as well as learned from others and through research online. I've come along way in strength and size since I've started. I will continue to learn and make myself better each day. MS Athlete/Super Hermanite BEING CHALLENGED IN LIFE IS INEVITABLE, BEING DEFEATED IS OPTIONAL.
