Hi there,

Right now I’m 24 years old, I’m 176 (5'9'') and 64 kg ( 141, 096)

I stared the gym to lose my love handles and generally some fat, I try to eat healthy, and I hardly ever take more than 1500 calories per day. When I first started the gym I had 72 kg (158, 7), so as u can see i did manage to lose quit some weight in 1, 5 months. Still my biggest problem is my belly and my love handles 'cos, skinny as I’m, there still there....

I usually go 3-4 times per week to the gym 1-1, 5 h/day. I did 30 min or running and then another 30-45 min or training (one day core and chest, the other day back shoulders and also chest).

The thing is, I'm so scared of losing more weight, that I cut the 30 min run out of my program. I'm enough skinny as it is. Losing even more weight would be very good for my health i think.

Any suggestions???

This is most likely due to your meal plan. It sounds like the only area of your body that is retaining fat is your midsection. Keep in mind that you can not spot reduce fat so you are on the right track by doing cardio. I wouldnt cut the cardio out of your regimen entirely, but instead just cut back a little. For example after each weight training session all you need is 15 minutes of steady cardio. After weight training your body is already in a thermogenic state meaning you will actually burn more fat and benefit much more from your cardio. By doing just 15 minutes of cardio after weight training you will be way less likely to burn muscle so dont worry about that. It seems as if you are only training your chest, back, and shoulders which isn't good. You need to be training your arms and legs as well. I would suggest that if you are only able to go to the gym 3-4 times per week that you focus more on total body circuit training each time. You will burn much more fat this way. Also training legs is a great way to burn fat and calories as well. I would suggest that you start using the meal planner on this site and that you start following Scott's total body training routines.

*In my first comment I meant to say "Losing more weight would be very bad for my health".

I try to incorporate my legs and arms into other exercises (for instance on machines when I do my chest I also do my arms) and after the 30 min run I didn’t think it was necessary to do my legs any more.

Hey man,

I see your membership is Gold.

To use the meal planner section, you should upgrade to Platinum.

Go to "My Account" to upgrade to Platinum.

Bare in mind that Gold membership is free and Platinum has a small charge, but Scott offers a free month of platinum using the promo code "FREEFITNESS" as he's such a bro :P

All the best

Declan

I agree Nathan, sounds like a meal plan issue.

I have the same problem, it IS genetic...and a crappy genetic trait as well. For most men including us (about 80% if I remember the stat right, I just remember it being well more than half), body fat stores in the stomach and oblique region, which is why a 6-pack is so admirable for men. The rest of men, the fat stores all throughout the body evenly. So yes, it's a meal plan thing, and your bf% is probably all in the abs region. As for routine, I would try to include abs as I did them every day in high school (not saying YOU should, just saying what I did, although you can train abs every other day), and it helped my 6-pack show along with eating better. Good luck!

Hi Scott, hello everyone

sorry for the late reply, haven’t been on-line for a few days.

Thanks for the video it helped me a lot! Now I understand some things way better ^^

Thou as I said I'm not really sure what to do. Since I'm only 5'9'' and 141 Ibis, I don’t know if i should eat to lose weight (belly and love handles) or to gain muscles. Should I first lose the belly and the love handles and then proceed to gain muscles or can I even lose the belly and co by gaining muscles?

Hey man!

You're not that kinda skinny I think.. May I ask you something, Are you addicted to beer before?? because if you are.. that's beer belly! If not just ignore what I said. I think the reason why that belly is still there, I think you're eating too much. And base on what you said you didn't include any workout that hits your midsection. Here are some tips.

Better things to do my friends to get rid that belly:

  1.  Watch What You Put into Your Body! Make sure that you commit yourself to simply drinking less beer and also watching what you eat. Avoid foods that are high in calories, and also eat based on the speed of your metabolism. If you have a faster or slower metabolism, make food intake adjustments accordingly, such as increasing protein consumption while lowering the intake of fat and carbohydrates. Because my friend in the FITNESS world our GOALS start with the food we eat, So it is very important top pay attention on your MACROS.

  1.  Cardio Workouts! I agree with Nathan! One of the best ways that you can help yourself just blast away that aggravating belly is by incorporating workouts that are heavy on the cardio intensity. The reason is that cardio workouts specifically target visceral fat; this kind of fat is especially found in your belly and is responsible for the unattractive tire around your stomach. Weightlifting also counts as a type of this form of workout to burn those belly, after your weight training do 15-30 minutes cardio to burn more calories.

  1.  Focus on your Abdominal Muscle workout. To get rid that belly and put that in good shape... abdominal workout is the right way ( focus on midsection abs workout ). There's a lot video for abs that Scott Herman provide us. Here's some sample of video that will help your midsection in good shape. This videos are also very useful for other purpose ( it will help you to strengthen your CORE  in order for you to have a guts to do dangerous trainings like deadlift and squats ).

It's all I got man! Hope it will be a help to you. #HTH

I need information about your weight, height, your macros daily so that I can assist you more.

Actually you don't have to lose weight in order to get rid of that belly.... That's why I gave you the 3 guideline above. You can gain weight , muscles and at same time put that belly in good shape. Its always start with the MACROS intake my friend, eat according to your goal, that's why you have to watch your food intake. Do intense workout on midsection to get rid of that belly ( cardio and abs workout ).
