Back to my stuborn old elbow issue...tried physio, chiro, stretching, icing, deep tissue massage, active release techniques, castor oil, wraps, sports tape, braces, etc etc etc....its worse....

Anyone ever used acupuncture for elbow tendonitis, or even for other things? If so what were your experiences....I'm a sceptic I must say.

I had some elbow pain recently, but I don't think it was tendonitis - massage and stretching etc. seemed to work for me. I also used heat - have you tried that??

Other than that, I did get a needle in my tricep when I saw my massage therapist once to help the muscle relax and I think that helped. I guess you'll only know if it works once you try it.

Matt,

You need to look at this from 2 angles: root cause and nutrition.

Root cause - What did you do that initially hurt your elbow? What types of movements/activities aggravate it?

Nutrition - You need to reduce the inflammation and give your tendon the nutrients in needs to heal itself along with time. Omega-3 fats will reduce the inflammation. Eating sulfur containing foods like garlice and onions will provide the building blocks for new collagen which is what all connective tissue is made from. The time it will take to heal properly will be long - at least 6 months - and will require you from not injuring it further hence question number 1 on root cause. To relieve the pain, eat fresh pineapple or tart red cherries. Both contain chemicals as powerful as NSAID drugs without the side effects.

I had problems with my upper right pec and shoulder area and my fight coach physio gave me this acupuncture where you send small electric shocks down the needles! Its a little painful in sensitive areas and leaves you a bit tender for a few days but i thought it was great!
