Nick,

This looks good but one suggestion if I may.  Chest and back are big muscle groups and really need their own day like legs.  I have trained chest/back together in the past for many years and while you do get a great upper body pump, I had to limit the exercises to (3) per body part to prevent overtraining.  Your chest and back can handle more volume than small muscles like arms and shoulders.  If you move Back to your Shoulders/Traps day (and Traps are more part of back anyways) and move your Triceps to Chest day (or keep Arms together on Wednesday), I think you will benefit more.  If I trained 4 days/week, this is how I would do it but I would workout Mon Tue, Thu, Fri providing one rest day in between (on Wednesday).

Well that is a PUSH/PULL.  Lot's of people do back and chest on the same day.

But like you jmboiardi, I like to keep them separate.

I do CHEST and TRIs and BACK & BIs together

Nice! TEAR IT UP! #HTH

Yeah if I were you I'd try something like this:

Monday: Chest/triceps/abs.

Tuesday: back/biceps.

Wednesday: Legs/abs.

Thursday: shoulders.

Friday: abs/cardio for 20 minutes.

Saturday: Rest.

Sunday: Rest.

I was following a workout that I really loved.

Monday/Thursday - Chest, Quads and Abs

Tuesday/Friday - Back, Hamstrings and Abs

Wednesday/Saturday - Shoulders, Arms, Calves and Abs

I'm changing it this week though, starting today it'll be...

Monday/Thursday - Chest, Back and Abs

Tuesday/Friday - Quads, Hamstrings, Calves and Abs

Wednesday/Saturday - Biceps, Triceps, Shoulders and Abs

We'll see how this one goes, it is slightly more similar to the posted workout plan I suppose :)

Personal experience.

I actually really like this routine but if you wanted to have a total rest day after back and chest that would be good because it would give your upper body a rest day so you could hit shoulders/ traps on wednesday, then arms thursday, and legs friday!!

But thats just a suggestion! all in all i really like your routine

Hey Braser!

Just curious, do you only have 3 days to train a week?  Because I would have some good input if you had more days to train!  Let me know!

No Scott, I workout 6 days a week. I just do the same workout and workout the same muscles twice a week :)

Monday and Thursday I work my Chest, Back and Abs

Tuesday and Friday I work my Quads, Hamstrings, Calves and Abs

Wednesday and Saturday I work my Biceps, Triceps, Shoulders and Abs

Well, if you want your muscles to grow, they need time to rest.  Lot's of bodybuilders I know will pick one group of muscles to train twice a week for 4-6 weeks... then move onto another muscle group to train twice a week.  Usually they go after what is "lagging" the most.

I feel like you might have better results if you focus more on volume by breaking up your splits much more.

Check out the interview I did with Dallas in the Exclusive Content section for the Mr. Olympia.  I think you will like what he has to say and you might want to break up that split more! :)

I’m lucky enough to have a schedule that doesn’t interfere with my work out routines. I focus on one body part a day so I can maximize the muscle growth. I love to start out with arms, then I have leg day to let my arms recover. By doing that, it allows my arms to heal and still be pumped and ready for the rest of the week, as they’re used as the secondary muscle in the rest of my exercises.

My routine is:

Sunday: Glory Dar (Bi’s and Tris)

Monday: Leg day and abs

Tuesday: Chest Day

Wednesday: Back and abs

Thursday: Shoulders

Friday: Off

Saturday: Abs and Heavy Cardio

2 year #SHF athlete I love to train hard and help others when they want it.
