A couple of days ago I was measured in Body Fat %, and I got 8.9%. I know I am skinny, and I am trying really hard to gain muscle through workout and diet. I just thought I would be more of a 15% around. Is it allright??, cause I was thinking that my abs would be more obvious in a BF% like that...

I would advise you to stick to skinfold calipers man! I agree with John about the electrical devices "trying" to measure your body fat percentage and failing.

By the looks of it, I would say you are at about 16%. Yes you are skinny but that doesnt mean you have a low BF%. The BF% value is a ratio (fat/muscle). You dont have a lot of muscle and you dont have a lot of fat, so you would be around 16-17%. Lots of muscle and not much fat would be around 10% or below. No muscle and a lot of fat would be at around 20% or more. Finally, lots of muscle and lots fat is unpredictable, but it can still be at around 16%.

yeah, I was going to say maybe around 12%

But remember bro, it doesnt matter what your bodyfat is. Focus on your meal plan and workout routine and build that muscle!!!!!!!! #HTH

Sure it could be 12% if you are optimistic. Its really hard to tell. The exact value does not matter as long as it is decreasing over time. A decrease in BF% (provided you always measure it the same way) means either a decrease of fat, or an increase of muscle mass. Or both.

Cheers!

What is the apporiate way to use a caliper? I used it on my abdominal (1 inch to the side of my belly button), between the chest and shoulder/armpit, and half way between my knee and hip. I measured it serveal times and used the average as my inputs. Did I do it correctly?
