What are some deltoid stretches besides the one where you pull your arm across your body? I've tried stretches for the side deltoid but honestly I don't feel anything being stretched.

Tried the stretch for the side deltoid in this video, but I didn't feel anything.

Also tried the stretch for side delt from this video, but didn't feel anything.

You should be smart about your stretching. You dont need to stretch things that dont need stretching. Most useful stretch that releases the shoulder joint is the pec minor and pec major stretch. Best way to do it is usually the door trick. Its the classic chest stretch you see everywhere. That definitely relaxes your shoulders because they are not being pulled forward anymore. Doing stretches for your rear delts or side delts are useless in my opinion. You are not spending your time right. You could be spending this time stretching your hip flexors or your hamstrings or your thoracic spine.

Is there a specific reason you are trying to stretch the deltoids? Do you have any pain or do they feel tight?

I use stretch bands to make sure that my shoulders are warmed up. I also grab some light dumbells and perform a shoulder rotation exercise to make sure I do not mess up my rotator cuff.

I just want to stretch out my shoulder muscles after a shoulder workout. Won't the middle deltoid get tight if you don't stretch them?

Yeah, I do those too to warm up my shoulders.

I agree with kostas. Think of stretching of a way to bring balance to your entire body. Generally speaking from daily tasks - computer use etc, gravity and on top of that any kind of pushing movements during training, time is usally beter off spent opening up the front of the chest / shoulders and strengthening ''pulling muscles'' to maintain proper posture. Pulling your arm infront/across your body may not be very benificial or may be counterproductive in my opinion. What i like to do though is perform some message / release using a tennis ball, lacrose ball etc with the shoulder pressing on the ball on the wall to message out any knots / tight spots you might have on all 3 heads of the delt.

What about stretching the middle deltoid after I worked it? There aren't many stretches for it I'm guessing.

I will try rolling them out with a tennis ball.

I personally stretch 3-5 hours after a workout. I do not have a specific reason for it. I just belive that your body is fully capable of doing its job in the muscles right after a workout. However as time passes DOMS may hit in, and before that, tightness. Therefore I think you should stretch a while after your workouts. Many yoga exercises requires your shoulders, thouse may be good as a form of stretching in addittion to normal streching.
