Will power and strength training increase my speed?

Strength training can increase your speed.

Lifting heavy weights by using explosive power can increase the amount of fast-twitch muscle fibres you have.

Speed comes from fast-twitch muscle fibres, and they are recruited when the muscle is forced to work intensely.

While a lower rep range will recruit more fast-twitch than low-twitch, an 8-12 rep range recruits the most fast-twitch fibres.
