What is my BMR, and why is it useful?

By Scott Herman in Nutrition · Published

BMR is your Basic Metabolic Rate. It simply means the average number of calories you burn.

This can be either in motion, or at rest. In motion would be the number burned during a workout day At rest would be a rest day.

Calculating your BMR requires you to know your height and weight as well your general energy output during the week.

It is important because it will act as a guideline for how many calories you need to eat to GAIN/MAINTAIN/LOSE weight.

It is important to measure your BMR and food intake against your LEAN BODY WEIGHT, which is your total weight minus body fat weight.
