Is there such a thing as over-training?

By Scott Herman in General Questions · Published

While it is hard to over-train, it is possible.

The main issue that leads to OVER-TRAINING is often related to food and rest, not working out itself.

If you are not eating enough to compensate for the amount of training you are doing, your body will suffer. The same goes for sleep - not enough and you can suffer consequences.

Signs that you are over-training include:

  • Not being able to increase your weights in the gym
  • Having your muscles fail to recover between workouts
  • A general, unusual tiredness

Also, if you are spending 2-3 hours in the gym each day, working only one muscle group per day, you can potentially be over-training and hindering your results.
