If I lose muscle after suffering an injury, how long will it take me to gain muscle back?

It will depend on a number of factors.

If you suffer a minor INJURY and are unable to train for only a few days or weeks, there will be little to no loss of muscle, and it will generally take little time to get it back.

A major injury, perhaps one that requires surgery and 6-12 months without training, can lead to somewhat significant muscle loss to the injured and untrained area.

The amount of time it then takes to build that muscle back may depend on how long you had muscle before the injury.

If you had been carrying plenty of muscle for most of your life and trained regularly, the body will quickly 'remember' and rebuild muscle. If not, it may take years.

Exact time frames are hard to judge, and are determined by all circumstances of the injury and person.
