How long should a circuit typically be?

By Scott Herman in Conditioning / Endurance Training · Published

An optimal circuit should be between 30-60 minutes.

It can depend on what your circuit involves though. If you are doing just an upper body or lower body circuit, you will likely not have as many exercises.

For a total body circuit, you should have AT LEAST one exercise per muscle group, with two exercises making it even more intense.

The number of rounds and REST you have will also effect its length. Rounds could range anywhere from 3-10 depending on your exercises. Try to have enough exercises so that 4-5 rounds will add up to 30-60 minutes of work.
