This is an awesome video! I wish I had seen it much sooner. Shopping for a healthy diet is much more simple than I thought. I do want to ask though: I love bread, and I know most breads you want to stay clear of, but I like the whole grain breads for sandwiches of all kinds. The issue is, most if not all of those breads are 1 slice per serving, which if I am being honest is very inconvenient. Is there a whole grain bread you would recommend? That's not a flat bread?
@wjpope1992 simple and effective man! It's how I train and how I eat! Haha. If I'm having bread, I actually like to go with Ezekiel bread most of the time, but as long as you are getting 100% wholegrain bread (not multigrain or wholewheat bread), then it should be OK. Just make sure it says 100% wholegrain on the packet!
Thanks for sharing the shopping video Scott I was really surprised that I get probably 80% of what you get. I’ll have to check out the hot sauces though and syrups. Selection and availability is a problem where I live you have to travel an hr to get some of that stuff, 2 grocery stores in the whole county here. I like to buy about 8 chicken breast at a time and throw a couple in the air fryer with Sauers chicken rub on them for 24 minutes every day so I don’t have a bunch of cooked up chicken laying around for 3 days. Will canned asparagus do or is it a bad option? Thanks again it’s extremely helpful to see what are good choices at the store.
yeah, my shopping is pretty normal and bland. haha.. that is the easiest way to cook healthy food! Canned asparagus... sodium might be a bit high.. but it isn't "bad". Always go for fresh when you can!
Holy crap Scott, I don't really do shopping I would usually eat what is in the house, mostly junk. I'm so glad to have seen this video to help give me an idea of what to get. Question, about how much would all this cost? I make almost nothing at the moment cause my job sucks.
whats a good substitute for greek yogurt? i mean its freaking hard to find that thing from where i live..like i tried online nothing.. (im in visayas region Philippines)
Hey @scott_herman , I am trying to find a sugar free chocolate syrup like Hershey's (it's rare to find this one in the stores here in my country) and I keep seeing in the nutritional info > carbs section > of which sugars = 0g, polyols = (almost all of the carbs).
what is polyols?? is it like stevia? sugar free sweetener?
mostly I care about if it is ok to choose a syrup like that... So is it ok??
@jafarakosPolyols are sugar-free sweeteners. Polyols are carbohydrates but they are not sugars. They are used cup-for-cup [volume-for-volume] in the same amount as sugar is used, unlike acesulfame potassium, aspartame, saccharin, and sucralose which are used in very small amounts. They are ok!
Such a helpful guide! A lot of information floating around in the ether about what to eat and what's good/bad. Always a new fad or trend in dieting - thanks for dispelling some of those "myths" and showing some good options!
Hi Scott, To vary from Olive oil, is it ok to use ghee? In my diet, I use either virgin olive oil or ghee just because it modifies the taste. The other question is about milk, you do not use any skim or 1% Milk in your diet. Would you recommend to remove it completely? Now I mix and use either 1% or Almond Milk in my shakes, here again to change the taste and because sometimes the Almond Milk is just to heavy for my stomach after workout. Any advise? @scott_herman Thanks!
Cool, thanks. I use milk because the almond milk just much food for me. My issue with Almond milk is not th taste but also that after a shake with it, I can't eat anymore. I mostly workout in the evening (8-10pm). I have lunch at 1pm, a snack around 4pm and then my shake after workout. Typically I try to have a light meal (Chicken and salad) after workout but it's tough to eat it after a almond milk shake...
Hey @laurent2210, ghee is great to use for sure! As for the Milk... I am just not much of a milk person in general and I feel bloated when I drink it so the Almond Milk is a better option for me. Lactose free.
Are you using the milk in your shakes for taste or to reach your macro goal? If you let me know I can better help you! :-D

@alister only spend like 50 - 60 bucks at a time.. being "borning" and buying in bulk will always save you money!!
Best grocery shopping guide video I've ever seen. Hands down. Great job!
Thanks very much my friend!!
Scott I would like to know where you get the True-gain pasta in your video. I can not find them or a similar pasta with low carbs and high protein.
I had to end the program... The company was costing too much for shipping and wouldn't budge. Shame :/

Looking for an alternative instead of bran oats. I add the protein whey into the bran oats after heating the oats up but I just don't like it.
Have you tried STEEL CUT oats @babymombasa?
