About Me

Here we go, first post. My name's Bill, I'm 28 years old, I'm 5'9", and I weigh about 180 lbs. My primary goal is to lose stomach fat. I work out semi-regularly, but I'm definitely looking to get into a more serious routine. I'm out of the house for work for about 12 hours a day, 5 days a week, but I do have the benefit of getting about an hour during the duty day to work out. I want to try out the 45 min holiday series, working in the ab routines 2-3 times per week to supplement a different workout (as prescribed by Mr. Herman). Here is where I have a few things I'd like some feedback on...First, I've been working out with my brother, who isn't big into cardio or doing ab work while we're at the gym (Planet Fitness). So, is there anything wrong with doing my cardio and/or ab work in the morning (0700), and other resistance training in the evening (~1900)? Also, seems like dead lifts are an integral part of many of the workouts, problem is Planet is mostly machines. I've been able to perform my deadlifts on the machine, but doesn't feel quite the same as with an olympic bar; does that just go with the territory, or should I avoid the machine and work with DBs instead? I'd say my biggest obstacle now and in the past has been my love of food and beer. I don't think I'm quite ready for the IIFYM approach to an eating lifestyle. I'll just need to be more conscious of what I'm putting in. I'm just a gold member, so I don't know if I have the ability to post in forums, and I was going to put this little introduction into the "Story" tab, but I didn't see where I could do that. I noticed too that I already have a few friends, so hopefully someone sees this. Hopefully I get a little more familiar with navigating the site in the next few days. Otherwise, thanks in advance if anyone has any feedback/tips for me starting out, and Scott, I'm really enjoying the videos, keep up the great work! -Doc
