Treadmill Back Pain

Lower back pain when running

I cannot run faster than 9 kph on the treadmill because everytime I do I get a pain in my lower back on the left hand side.

I've been running for the last 3 or 4 weeks approx 2-3 times a week and it isn't getting any better. I'm trying to get to 12 kph.

 

How can i prevent this? My warm up is just a 3 minute walk. My trainers are quality running trainers.

I think thats just tightness just keep stretching your back out and getting it nice and warm

Yeah i thought the walk would be enough but apparantely not. As soon as I hit the faster settings my stride opens up and thats when it hurts so stretching more makes sense.

It could be something as simple as just needed to stretch more.

Hey Matt! This video that Scott recomened is amazing for the lower back!

 

Scott reffered my fiance to this video when she injured her lower back. Kat had fallen off a horse and landed on her tail bone and she wasn't able to work out at all. After a couple of weeks of following these stretches she was good as new and lifting again! Hope you feel better soon man.

UPDATE: I did the back stretches and managed to increase my speed on teh treadmill with NO pain!

 

I guess not stretching/warming up the lower back was giving me the pains.

 

Problem solved!

Just to follow up.... i went on the treadmill last night and didn't warm up..... the pain kicked in at the lower back after maybe 10 minutes..... i'm learning the hard way that warmup and stretches are important before every session.... :-(
