I have been following Scott for about a year now and have implemented many aspects of his teachings into my workouts. When I started my journey I weighed 287lbs at 6' 1" and currently I am down to 242lbs with plenty of new muscle. I've been using the Arnold's Blueprint to Mass and Cut to get to where I am today. My gym I was working out at was a Planet Fitness which really limits you to cables and Dumbbells up to 75Lbs. I was working out for about 2hrs a day 5 days a week, but I just havent been able to shred the fat the way I would like to. Part of this lack of fat loss is on me as I havent been doing anywhere enough cardio as running has been a struggle with calf locks keeping me from any real distance/time. My macro's are good as for the last 6mo I have been tracking them pretty well. I currently shoot for 2500 to 3000 calories and about 190-210g of protein and use suppliments like C4 Ultimate for my pre-workout, ON BCAA 5000, and ON Gold Standard Whey protein and GNC's Ultimate Man Sport vitamin.

I've just changed gyms from Planet Fitness to a local all-in-one gym facility. The new facility has free weights, a pool, sauna, and I can actually grunt now! I've always loved swimming and I know it's an excellent way to work off fat. My question is, can I swim 2 days or more a week and still be able to continue to put on muscle? Currently my goals are to work on my bulking Bicep/Triceps/Shoulders and Chest/Back while toning my Abs and Legs which is where I have the most fat remaining.

Thanks in advance!

- Mario

Hey Mario, thanks for the support man! Really means a lot! And awesome work so far with your weight loss progression!

It's good that you have been tracking your macros.. but could you list all of them here? Getting enough protein is one thing.. but if you are cutting, you probably want to watch carbs as well, and if your carbs are too high that might be part of the reason you've hit a speed bump with fat loss. Also, have you been to the @mealplan page and used the calculator to make sure you're still running a calorie deficit?

Great news about the new gym, that will give you a lot more freedom for your workouts. What kind of program are you following now? Have you thought about going for the PPL program here on the site to help with your fat loss? If you've been working out 2 hours a day.. there's really no need to do that for your workouts, you can get a solid workout done in 75-90 minutes.

And yes you can swim 2 days a week while gaining muscle. How long would your swimming session last? It sounds as though you are still a bit of a newbie so as long as your deficit is small (like a 250 calorie deficit) and your programming is solid with enough protein (which I know you are already getting) then you'll be OK.

It's OK @quicksilver98!

Your macros actually look pretty good, carbs are nice and low already and protien is good too.

Are you still struggling with the weight loss? Still stuck in that platea? Or did you make some changes to the 2500-3000 calories you were aiming for, and cut back to 2150 to keep the fat loss going?
