Hey guys, I was wondering if flavoured sparkling water affects the nutritional side of bodybuilding?

I try to drink around 2-3 litres of water a day, however I am considering having a 1 litre bottle of sparkling water twice a week to mix things up. I'll still be getting 2 litres of normal bottled water, but now with the extra 1 litre of sparkling twice a week.

Is sparkling water bad for you in small quantities? and will it affect my nutritional plan?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

No its not bad for you... its water with some flavor, everything in moderation though.

If it is flavored with sugar or a sugar substitute, then "yes" it is bad from a metabolic standpoint. Water should be drunk un-adulterated. Many of these flavored waters are loaded with sugar (not as much as a standard Coke) but still enough none-the-less to mess up your insulin sensitivity and insulin levels. The ones with artificial sweetners short-circuit your Ghrelin-Leptin hormone feedback loop and actually make you crave more sweets. They are engineered specifically to do this which is why people actually gain more weight drinking diet soda than regular soda.

My advice is stay with pure, unflavored water - sparkling or flat.

Doesn't look that bad. It does have sucralose but so does protein powder, and the amount in there isn't going to make a huge difference. As William said, everything in moderation. If you're after a bit of flavor there's no harm in this.

But I would stick to regular water as much as you can, or flavoring it with something like BCAAs is a good idea too if you want more taste 😊
