Somatotypes

Workouts based on body type - is this a legitimate thing?

Hi all,

I know enough about somatotypes to say that I know sweet bugger all about somatotypes. Anyone have any opinions about this idea and the workouts/nutrition plans based on them?

Thanks.

Hi all,

I know enough about somatotypes to say that I know sweet bugger all about somatotypes. Anyone have any opinions about this idea and the workouts/nutrition plans based on them?

Thanks.

Jeff,

The 3 somatotypes - ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph - need to be taken as base guidelines only. Ectomorphs tend to be small framed with low body fat and fast metabolisms while endormorphs tend to be large framed, have higher body fat, and slower metabolisms. Mesomorphs fall somewhere in between and tend to build muscle easier and have a metabolism that allows them to stay lean but still put on size.

The problem with somatotypes is very few people are 100% any one of them. Most people are a mixture. I am a meso-ectomorph. I am smaller framed with a high metabolism and lean but I have some muscular shape and size. Nutrition and proper macro ratios and calorie intake are the same regardless of somatotype. While an ectomorph theoretically can consume many more calories than a endomorph, they still can't eat more than they burn or eat shit food or they will become "skinny fat" or TOFI - Thin Outside, Fat Inside.

I ask because I've been told I was meso-ecto as well and that someone could sell me a workout and nutrition plan specifically for my body type.

I would try the platinum membership on here first bud. I have found most of the tools need to learn how and what to eat, etc, right here.
