Hello guys,

So 2 days ago ... I was playing Football with my mates and everything was fine but then when I got back home, I felt some pain in my Knee ( note: that I didn't fall on the ground or hit my Knee that day) and then I for the first time ever. I noticed a Bump in my Knee and it hurts .. My sister suspected that it's Osgood but I didn't know what that is until yesterday.. so basically She asked me if I can bend my Knees for 1 minute and but then It started to hurt so bad .. I tried to Squat and Lunge but my Knee started to hurt and I wasn't stable with my Bodyweight.

So I went to the doctor ... He saw my Leg and he confirmed the issue. I then had a little chat with him and told him about my Weight lifting activites .. I could tell he is a good doctor when he said that it doesn't stunt growth unlike the other doctors or the myths that are around.

He then asked me about my Leg routine. Squats, Lunges and Calve work ... He said that I shouldn't be doing the first two so that I can rest my Knee and that Bump would go away..

He also gave me some tips to rest my Left Knee. He told me not to Run/Jump and definitly any Sports that involves that. He told to use a Knee brace and Ice to rest my Knee and allow it to recover and rest and that I shouldn't be taking Stairs especially when I have any kind of weights in hand not meaning a Db or BB but just any Moderate weight that can be anything.

So now I don't know what to do ... I've read some topics ... For those who continued with their leg routine, the Bump is still there but for those that stopped their leg routine and had rest got rid of both the pain and the Bump and I would prefer the second option.

So guys ... Let me know what your thoughts are...

Should I stop with my weight lifting routine so that I can create a balanced Physique later? or should I continue with my routine without Legs?

Let me know what your thoughts are guys..

Regards,

Mohamed.

How long will it be until you are able to train legs again?

If it is only a couple of weeks, I think it would be OK to continue doing your current routine. If it is going to be like 2-3 months or longer, I wouldn't say stop doing your routine, just maybe do less perhaps. Keep active with body weight and light weight exercises if you are worried about creating an unbalanced physique by training as normal.

If you did want to continue to work your body as normal though, I'm sure you could soon get your legs back up to speed by training them twice or even three times a week once you are fully recovered.

Lastly, with your injury, are you unable to do ANY leg work whatsoever? Or will you be able to get some physoptherapy for example and do really really basic leg movements to help work the muscle?

He said that it should be ok at the age of 18 ( I am 17) so that's one more year.

I can pretty much train my other muscles normally with heavy/moderate weights .. It's just my Legs but yes I am thinking about letting my Knees rest and perhaps when I am fully recovered that I'd perhaps train it twice a week.

I asked my Doctor that what If I decide to just continue with my Leg training ... He said that the Bump would most likely stay there or it'd take longer than 1 year to recover but possibly the first .. He suggested resting it .. He told me that bending the Knees too much wouldn't help my case and would just make the Bump worse day after day .. He also explained to me how cautious I should be with my Knee and that is very very weak and that any hit can damage it .. even with my fist.

I can do Squats/Lunges yes ... but I am not so stable at the end of the range of motion in the left leg .. The right one is ok.

Honestly I am thinking of letting it rest but I want to get your opinion on it first guys.

I have 5-6 months left on my Cut so I prob not gonna gain that huge amount of muscle anyway.. and prob after my cut.. I'll see how it goes .. He also stated that If I let it rest and follow his tips with the Ice and Brace that it can help fasten the recovery rather than training it.

Well if the bump is painful and may never disappear if you continue training as usual, then you're probably better off resting it and letting it recover fully.

It may put you back in your training a bit, but it's better to have your body working at 100% later than to wreck it for the rest of your life.

IF you can do squats and lunges etc to work the muscle, then that may be a good idea, but ONLY if your doctor thinks it's OK. Otherwise yeah, just let it rest would be the best option. One year is a long time, but if you are cutting it may not be so bad I suppose, especially seeing as you aren't focusing on gaining muslce during that time is that right?

But my main point to make here would be don't do anything that is going to hurt you in the long run. Better to be patient now and recover fully.

It's not that painful that I can't do the exercise .. but it gets stressed very fast and the bump in the Knee is just crazy after squatting with just my Bodyweight .. My doctor says that I can do squats and Lunges but it isn't going to help my Knees recover any faster but it'll actually slow the process so I better listen to him... I am currently cutting for 5-6 months till I reach 10% or Single digit then going to maintain my Weight and then bulk after my senior year (ends in August)

Yes, I am not focusing on muscle gains right now but rather those newbie gains .. I am trying to improve strength right now even though it's hard and slower now on a Defict and focusing on my weak bodyparts

Thanks for your post mate! Hopefully I can get the opinion of other site members too who had experience with this issue.
