Quick question to all,

What’s the best way to consume eggs?

Are there any benefits or downsides from consuming a certain way?

How many eggs should I have a day?

I don’t mind eggs and there’s several ways I know you can take them my favourite has to be scrambled but can acquire more time to prep. just this morning I was told by a work colleague that he takes 4 eggs raw in a glass every morning as its quick simple and he just necks them down and I wasn’t sure if that’s still okay, can the body digest it as easy I just wasn’t too sure.

I like omelets if I'm in a rush. Hard boiled eggs are good for meal prep.

James,

Sunny Side up is best as cooking the yolk too much can destroy some key nutrients. I eat 7-8 whole eggs every day cooked in olive oil. Eggs are an awesome food with the best protein, key vitamins, and essential fats. As long as you are not eating tons of processed sugars, processed foods, trans-fats, and other junk, eggs will not affect your cholesterol levels or blood fats. If you eat like a typical American and eat tons of whole eggs, it is a whole other story and eggs will exacerbate the elevated cholesterol and triglycerides in your blood from eating shit food.

I would avoid eating them raw - you see it in the movies but you can get some serious food poisoning (salmonella) from doing that.

Hard boiled makes it them easy to eat no matter where you are, but scrambled, in an omlette, poached...they're all good options.

James,

There are 2 major reasons to avoid eating eggs raw:

1) Salmonella poisoning: While Ahmed (Abass) pointed out salmonella lives outside on the shell, an egg shell is porous and these bacteria work their way into the egg.

2) Biotin deficiency: Eggs contain a compound called Avudin. Avudin is rendered inactive when an egg is cooked. Avudin binds to vitamin B7 (Biotin) and prevents its absorption by the body. Biotin is critical for cell growth, the production of fatty acids, and the metabolism of fats and amino acids - all of which are necessary to support muscular growth and recovery.

You're not supposed to eat the shell @Abaas :D

Haha seriously though, like John said, the bacteria on the shell works its way through to the egg. You're not going to get salmonella from the shell unless you eat it or lick it or something :)

What everyone is saying is try about cooking it and losing some mutrients from the yolk. I don't believe what you lose is too much to NEED to eat the yolk un cookedl ike sunnyside up or raw. If you enjoy scrambled then eat your eggs scrambled, if you wanna try out sunny side up or raw then you can do so. Do whatever you are able to do and make your nutrition something you enjoy not something you painfully go through everyday or else you will be more reluctant to quit eating as healityily as you do.

My favorite way to prep eggs is hard boiled because you can just grab them and head off to the gym or to work and theyre always there and ready! Its a quick little protein snack.

1 in 10,000 eggs statistically has a compromised shell. This causes fecal bacteria to infect the egg. The condition is called salmonella and can be lethal. I watched a friend go from 245lbs and less than 10%bf to just under 150lbs in less than two weeks from salmonella poisoning. Research it. It is very dangerous, and will set your gains back months. I, at the time he got sick, consumed upwards of 30 raw eggs a day. It was a disgusting diet. When he got sick I swore I would never drink a raw egg again. Raw eggs also affect the bowels harshly. Let's just say you won't have any trouble clearing a room....

Hey John, thanks for that info. I haven't been eating too many eggs because they are relatively expensive where I'm at, and I just don't want to spend that much just for egg whites. I guess I just listened to Dr. Oz without researching it myself. I still don't think I will be leaving any runny yokes because I don't want the excess carbs from the toast I would have to use to dip into the yoke!!!

I like mine sunny side up, fully cooked with a little cheese on em.
