Hi I used to be fat and overweight, I been working out for 12 weeks and I need some help to clarified my body. What I want to know is what my body fat percentage is by looking at it, am I an endomorph, mesomorph or ectomorph, is it time to add some muscle and train abs and the one I fear the most which is am I skinny fat?

Hey man.

I don't think you are skinny fat. I don't think you are fat at all really. It's just that you need to start building your muscles for them to grow bigger and to also stand out.

Your body type is probably ectomorph, but you look pretty young and still have some serious growing to do I'm guessing. Besides, most people are a mix of two or more body types.

Your body fat levels, to me, look to be around 13-18% as a rough guesstimate.

If you have lost some weight, and are happy with what you have lost, then for sure it is time to add some muscle. Once you get your body fat levels downa bit more your abs will become more visible, but like all your muscles you will need to build them up for them to be really defined, so there's no better time to start than now.

Do you have a currenty routine you follow? What have you been doing for the past 12 weeks?

Also, have you got yourself a meal plan?

Maybe have a look at this for a start: http://muscularstrength.com/article/Beginners-Hypertrophy-Program-muscle-gain?rID=Beginners-Hypertrophy-Program-muscle-gain

Hope this helps!

I actually think your physique is great. Nothing to see of whatever fatness you might have had before.

A bit problematic posture (rounded upper back, neck forwards) is maybe something you might want to work on, but should also come along automatically with doing sports and doing propper form on exercises.

I think you'll just do fine when starting to work out.

And if you have a tendency for overweight, just make sure to stick to whatever changed mealplan you have now, in order to prevent it from coming back. And over time the body will adjust to your new "you" :)

Essentially what you have there is a perfect blank canvas. You're a young guy and physiologically, it's the right time for you to easily start packing on muscle. Whatever you do, do not go on a bulk. Eat a moderate caloric surplus, eat plenty of protein and lift heavy things.
