Four years ago, I was obese and unhappy, until I decided to do something about it. I lost 80 pounds in one year, although I'm not done yet. I have remained active and kept it off. I did so by spending ridiculous amounts of time in the gym, then running up to an hour a day. I started to lapse in my eating habits and I have yet to finish losing the weight. However, one thing I have picked up is Powerlifting. I went to a meet in September 2012 and saw these beautiful women lifting. It was there I decided to start training. I competed for my first time this September and competed again on March 30, 2014 where I got a 688 total. I have come to love powerlifting, especially because there is infinite room for growth, as I have already beat what I did less than a month ago. Going to the gym is my favorite part of the day! I want to encourage other women to start exploring strength training, because if it wasn't for other women doing it, I would never have tried it!
