    Constantly Doing Something...Will it help?

    September 5, 2018, 12:32 pm

Hey Guys! I am a college student and if i'm not in class or work I am usually studying. I could spend upto 3-5 hours sitting at a desk doing homework and other school work. I am trying to get about and hour at the gym if not every day but most days that I can. My question is, If I take a break every 10-20 minutes to do some sort of excersise/repitiotions would that help me over time. Say like 3 sets of pusshups with situps or do 3 sets of pullups and bycicle crunches? or even EZ curls with squats?

I mean I figure that would help me gain a little muscle but also help me not just sit there and feel lazy. Or would it just be a waste of time?

@cawood If you're still working out most days, then there's probably no need to get up and do the little spurts of exercise. If anything, I would say just get up and go for a bit of a walk. Doing ab movements would be useful because abs recover so fast and can be trained so often. But, for example, if you already training chest at the gym, I wouldn't bother doing push-ups later on, or even the next day. Maybe 2 days later you could (depending on your split and how many times you would train your chest each week).

So.. I wouldn't say doing little sets like that is bad.. but I wouldn't say it will make a major difference if you're also going to the gym. But it is good to get up every now and then from your computer chair or desk and move around in some way or another.

    Hope that helps!

That helps. Thanks Scott. Can't wait to see your full body program. I prefer those workouts more than splits and focusing on one area for the majority of a workout.
