Nation,
I have discussed at length how man-made sugars and fats are the real culprits in the majority of the diseases we face as we age like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, dementia, etc. Many people think they are eating low sugar, healthy foods because the food industry goes thru great pangs to use "healthy words" like "natural", "low sugar", etc to get you to buy their products. The bottom line is "sugar" isn't always listed as "sugar" in the ingredients. They use "natural" sounding innocuous names like "Brown Rice Syrup" or "Evaporated Cane Juice" to make them sound healthy. ALL syrups are sugars. Even natural sugars like Honey and Lactose when added to processed food are not as healthy as when they are in their natural state as Organic Honey or Lactose in milk. Here are the 58 legal names for sugars in processed foods:
Agave Nectar
Barley Malt

The bottom line is the age old adage that still holds true - if it is in a bag, box, bottle, plastic container, or any other man-made packaging it is a PROCESSED FOOD regardless of the bullshit marketing they put on the outside. Only food in its natural state is truly wholesome and nutritious and will sustain health.
