I have been very sick the past five days, and I know there are a lot of people out there dealing with the lovely sick season. I had all the great side effects; body aches, runny nose, sore throat, fever, stomach ache, and all those lovely things. The first day all I wanted to do was lay in bed. While I did make sure I rested and stayed away from work, I still motivated myself to go through my daily choirs. This really helped me mentally get out of the mindset of being sick. Sometimes when we are sick, we like to make it worse by thinking how sick we are and how we cannot do anything. Here are some quick tips on getting through your sick days without sacrificing your busy life.
- Stay hydrated! This is important when you are not sick but even more when you are losing fluids from being sick. Stick with water, orange juice, or some Gatorade.
- Take a warm shower in the morning. This really helped me feel refreshed and not all gross from being sick.
- Get a strong start in the morning. Try to get all the important stuff done at the beginning of the day so you can rest more later on at night.
- Workout! I think a little working out when you are sick is good. Of course if you have a fever of 105 and are throwing up maybe not so much. I kept pushing myself in my workouts, which I think really made me feel better faster.
- Get your mind right! Try to think and go on as if you are not sick. Read some motivating books or watch a movie that makes you feel better and get the right mind set.
- Eat! Even if all you can stomach is a smoothie, make sure you are not completely sacrificing all your macros for the day.
Try following these tips next time you are sick. Do not let being sick ruin your holiday season. We all know it isn’t convenient being sick, but with the right mind set and some simple actions we can make it much better for ourself!
