3 years ago, I weighed in at about 250 pounds. After going through some tough times in my life, I lost weight quickly, mainly due to stress and eating less, not by choice necessarily. Working more than full time while raising my 3 kids as a single dad, I knew I needed to change so I could play with my kids and be there for them for a long, long time. So, I took control of my health and fitness. I joined the gym in November 2012 and became addicted to feeling good. Having 2 herniated discs in my back for about 5 years, I used to have chronic back pain. I have not had back pain since about January 2013! Recently, I took on a challenge I never thought i would get through...my first fitness contest, the MuscleTech Rock Hard Challenge 2014!! It was 8 weeks of intense workouts and a huge swing in nutrition, but it paid off big time! I am in the best shape of my life and getting the six pack abs I always wanted. No tricks, secrets, or magic, just plain hard work and intense exercise. I don't know how well I did compared to the other people who entered the contest, but should find out in June 2014. No matter what decision is made, I know that I took my weight down from 191 to 180, and brought my body fat % down to 10% from about 15% in 8 weeks and I am very proud of those accomplishments. Being a single father of 3 young kids, a full time Human Resource Professional, full time college student and full time gym addict, it can be very challenging to accomplish everything that needs to be done, but it is possible! You just have to believe in yourself! My next fitness goal is muscle growth now that the body fat is about where I wanted it!
