How much protein should I eat to gain muscle? How much protein is too much?
AT LEAST 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass or 1.6 to 2.2 grams per kilogram of LEAN BODY MASS.
Some will say 1 gram p/lb of lean body mass is sufficient, but many people have found higher protein diets help them build bigger leaner bodies. Protein is the building block for muscles.
To build lean muscle, PROTEIN should constitute most your calories. If you tend to deal with carbs poorly and store them more as fat, substitute them and increase your protein and/or FAT.
If you are eating MORE than 300g of protein PER DAY, you may need to start reconsidering your meal plan.
