Are carbs really bad?

By Scott Herman in Nutrition · Published

Some carbs are better than others.

The majority of your carbs should come from wholemeal sources such as rice, bread, quinoa or pasta. Other good sources are sweet potatoes and fibrous vegetables (broccoli, spinach etc).

Fruit should be included in your diet, but beware of their high sugar levels. Though natural sugar, it is still sugar. Avoid fruit juice most of the time, as well as dried fruits.

Avoid processed carbs like lollies and any other sugar-filled products ALMOST all the time.

For lean gains, eat no more than 1g of carbs per pound of body weight. Generally, eat LESS.

CARBS are needed for energy BEFORE workouts, and are also good for replenishing the muscle IMMEDIATELY after a workout.
