So, when doing curls with aforementioned EZ curl bar, i experience pain (not really severe) in the bones of my forearm which makes me think I might be doing it wrong (though I'm not sure how..the thing has handles after all).  Is this normal and does anyone else experience this?  It worse when using the straight bar, hence the reason for the ez curl bar.

Obviously, I want to make sure I don't snap a bone when as I progress to heavier weights.   It seems to me that since there's pain in the bones (yes the bones, not the muscle) that there might be something I'm either doing wrong or maybe it's something else.

I am not a Doctor but I am going to weigh in my thoughts. Is the pain from your wrists down the sides of your foreaems to your elbows? What you are experiencing is more than likely Tendonitus. It is your Tendon that connects your muscle to the bone. I had this for 2 years and it is very painful. I will tell you if you keep at it while it hurts it will only get worse. Keep th evolume low on direct bicep work with more reps as long as it doesn't cause you pain, you will get most your bicep work from compound exercises like chin ups, pull ups and under handed rows. Use high and low rep routines. Again as long as it doesn't cause any pain. In the mean time you need to strengthen your forearms. Your forearms are not strong enough for the weight you are using for curls even though your biceps might be. Do this while not causing pain to your forearms for at least 4 months and you can see how it does from there. I had to lay off direct bicep work for almost 2 years or at least a lot of direct bicep work. The first year I couldn't do any. You can also wrap your forearms with compression wraps which help eliviate the pain.

I have been training coming up on 6 years and have made some great gainz. I've done a lot of trial and error on myself as well as learned from others and through research online. I've come along way in strength and size since I've started. I will continue to learn and make myself better each day. Muscular pain is among the most common problems in people who work out. Thanks for sharing useful information to reduce this pain. I too had a terrible muscular pain and getting chiropractic care from a popular chiropractor in Mississauga since couple of weeks.

You say its "(not really severe)" and more of an irritation...

My wrists and a bit of my forearm used to hurt when I did curls, This was when I was only lifting for about 6 mnths and I was upping my weight faster. I found squeezing the bar harder helped alot.... I mean squeeze that bitch when your lifting.. Mabey try some wraps, Scott has a good video on them. but after a few weeks of throwing in some forearm exersises Ive never had the pain again!!

I used to get the same pain a long time ago. Honestly, I fought through it and it eventually went away. The bones could not be used to the tension created from the movement and need to get stronger because of it.
