Hey guys. I've used the calculator on the website and I've watched Scott's video on caclulating your macros a couple of times and I have a question. In the video Scott says to take your BMR rest and BMR active and average the two to come up with your calorie intake for the day. From here you develop the macros. Why would you average Rest and Active BMR? If I use this method I come up with 2243.5 calories to maintain. Now if I use the calculator that is on the website using the same inputs, it only uses the BMR active for my calorie intake, 2727.

Fat weight 178

Body Fat %0.16

Fat 28.48

Lean weight 149.52

BMR rest 1760

BMR active 2727

BMR Average 2243.5 Calorie intake to maintain.

My goal is hopefully drop my body fat down closer to 10% while gaining lean mass, but I'm not sure which calorie count to use.

And Scott, if you happen onto this post, I want to thank you for helping me get my motiviation back to start body building.

Thanks

Jon

I'm not sure exactly why Scott has what he has, but when I see the calculator here, right? http://muscularstrength.com/my-mealplan

The rest value is your BMR (aka, the amount of calories you need for respiration, circulation, cell production, etc. The "BMR in motion" is really RMR, or the BMR + daily body movement, thermic effect of food, digestion, NEAT, etc. without factoring in exercise calories burned variable (better to estimate that on your own). So, the "motion" is a better reflection of your maintenance calories.

Harrison Bemedict formula has worked well for me not sure what this site´s model is based on.

I get the following based on :

Heigh 181 cm

Weight 77 kg 171 lbs roughly

Age 34

Male

Light Seated Work with light exercise. ( Not sure about this though. I have seated work but I exercise 5 days a week)

Anyways that information spits out the following and this is simliar digits no matter what site more or less.

BMR 1796

2514 daily need.

Being on deficit since 7 January I´m eating 2000-2200 according to my app and how I fill it out. So far 7 pounds down since then (3kg).

The thing that makes the most diffrence for me though seems to be cutting Carbs whenever I let them over 150g pre day I start bloating up.

So for the moment my split is about 25 % carbs 40 % protein and 35 % fat.
