I am looking for ways to consume my calories in the a.m.. I literally go to sleep early so I can wake up early enough to feed, walk the dogs, get ready for work etc. However, my stomach is just not ready to consume a lot of solids in the morning. I was thinking a smoothie would be the best bet for me, however I remember reading something about solids helping metabolism blah blah. I am really lacking in my calories by the end of the day and having to force feed myself. My breakfast is the problem. I figured I could do something of this sort with a smoothie:

1/2 cup oats, 1 banana, 1-2tbsp olive oil, 2 cups of 1% milk, 1 egg, 2tbsp of pb (literally ground up peanuts)

Whats your thoughts?

oats <--- best decision, with whatever addition you can think of. Fruits, Milk, Eggs etc etc.

If you feel you need to blend it - absolutely okay too.

I'd use ecologic peanut butter tho. Costs you less blending and shredding and less time =) And i'd prolly use coconut oil instead of the olive oil. (just becaus ei think iot would taste better with the rest of the ingredients :)

@ crood I have never heard of ecologic peanut butter. Is that the brand name and is this something you order?  I hate the taste of coconut, there is one coconut oil i use and its because I dont taste it called LouAna from walmart and other grocery stores.  Would raw egg be okay blended up? I have done this before many times and didn't think of salmonella lol.

the raw egg is up to you and how good you know the source of the eggs / how much you trust them to be non-infec ted (salmonella etc) i am very cautious about it. And personally would'nt do it but that is up to you.

Ecological peanut butter is just like naturell / natural, but by the means of being from ecological farms /plantages / etc. The standards are higher and also the fact that no bad stuff goes into it. Like my ecological peanut butter is only made form peanuts and a tad seasalt. There is nothing else in it.

But when you buy "regular" peanuts butter there are tons of emulgators to keep it smooth, tons of sugar added, tons of salts added etc etc. Which is why i don't buy those.

Cheers!

@crood good deal man, I think i would have trouble finding that lol. The peanut butter I use isn't so creamy, its literally just peanuts. The grocery store (publix) grinds just the nuts and adds a little oil, no salt nor does it have sugar. Comes in small packages. If I cant use raw egg, I guess I will just add more coconut or olive oil for the fats, but I lose the protein. I think thats where egg whites come in huh?

Aside from the bacteria issue with raw eggs, I wouldn't advice it ever (sorry, Rocky was a bad influence), because there's a protein caleld avidin which bind to biotin, aka it can cause a biotin deficiency. Cooking the egg whites makes it inactive.

Justin,

Great minds think alike -- I had a similar response to another person asking about eating raw eggs. People don't know about Avidin and how bad biotin deficiency is especially when trying to build muscle :-)

you could also decide to eat a portion of skyr or greek yoghurt together with the fruits and peanutbutter etc and add a tadd water to blend it all. Greek Yoghurt and skyr have a great amount of protein. There is no reason the protein "must" come only from eggs :)

Eggwhites also don't really taste too good when thrown into a blender with milk etc. (no matter if raw or cooked - not a big fan brrrr.. terrible combination) And i think we have given enough reasons above to not use raw eggs.

try tossing in a quick morning cardio session, or doing abs right when you wake up to kick start your body and you will most likely be more hungry!! It is very simple but it worked for me!
