Don't worry Nation, you don't have to have a landmine attachment to do this exercise. In the video below I demonstrate how to perform the exercise by just putting a 45lb plate on the ground as well. You can use the corner of a wall.. But that would cause damage to the wall. So not good!

I love this exercise. If you perform it correctly with no momentum you will feel your entire core engage and an amazing burn through your obliques. But don't start off with too much weight. Go with 10-25lbs and really focus on contorl throughout the entire movement.

Try doing 3 - 4 sets of 15 - 20 reps (PER SIDE) with your next abdominal workout! #HTH

OMG!!! Like it so much that it's the only way I do those exercises now. My core is on fire everytime!!! I love it!

Also so I know this has been discussed before but are these types of intense exercises too much to do everyday? I love doing core work and want to achieve as much muscle growth as possible but don't know if ur supposed to give ur core adequate time to recover. Thx

Kick ass!!!

Yeah man they are great for sure! Depending on how conditioned yur core is.. You can if you want. I like ot hit my core for two days, then rest one day, then hit it again. Just switch the days. Make one day a brutal heavy day, and the other a high rep day.

Tell me how you like it! #HTH

Hey Guys, what a workout!

Trying to source the landmine tool in the UK (I'm London based ) and they are pretty rare and more expensive out here. My bro is in Baltimore so I was going to get him to pick me one up as there is tons of variety on amazon.com but I figured/hoped I could find one even cheaper in a sports/specialist store out there.

My preference is the Total Core landmine with handle but I reckon a CFF Post Landmine would be ok and easier for my bro to ship.

ANY advice on nationwide/specialist stores to check out/ call up to see if I can get a better price or any advice on folks' prefered model would be very welcome too. Help please Hermannites, theres got to be a cheeky deal or two out there.  I dont want a screw down one: either one that is heavy enough and has the right angle to wedge or a post version.. Cheers folks

Hey @BigPete!

What do you think of this one? It's a post version and seems pretty cheap compared to others: https://christiansfitnessfactory.com/cff-post-landmine.html

You could try looking on ebay too - might be able to get a good deal there.

Hey Scott, was just wondering what effect pivoting the foot while moving the weight would have on this workout. I have seen it done both ways. I’m assuming pivoting the foot would make this exercise work more hips than obliques?

@Temple9 if you are only twisting your feet, it should still work your obliques.

So you can still pivot your feet, what you want to try and avoid is literally moving your hips. If you keep your hips neutral and facing forwards as you twist, your obliques will still be worked.

Keep your upper body tight and focusing on engaging those obliques and you should be fine! A twist of the foot shouldn't be a concern. :)

I agree @JoeHurricane,

@Temple9 when doing certain exericises like low to high woodchoppers pivoting is great and helps with range of motion. But for this movement, you are better off keeping hips straight to maximize core enegagment
