Hi guys, from Scotland, and I play a lot of rugby, and football (soccer) and I was just wondering what is the most effective way of increasing my speed, and how high I can jump? I have tried using ankle weights whilst doing things like Insanity, cheers guys

Hey chimak!

Welcome to the site brotha!

To increase speed the best thing to do is explosive PLYO workouts and doing "longer" sprints when training. For example.. if you are trying to get a faster 100 meter run, train running the 400 meter.

Try these workouts too for PLYOs brotha.

Given the plyo workout a try, it's brilliant! But, with the speed element, i heard ankle weights were effective for interval training to improve speed?

Of course!

If I were you I would stick to using a sled you can PUSH or PULL.

The problem with ankle weights is they all that fast moving can put unwanted strain in the knees with the weight around your ankles.

Hope this helps! #HTH

I thinkle I'll stay away from them then, jumping has enough strain on my knees, lt alone with ankle weights aswell
