Getting into the last 7 months leading up to college football walk-on orientation. I'm not sure when the actual tryouts are, but I want to be ready to go on day one. That being said I'm currently at 188lbs at 17% body fat. I've been lifting weights for explosiveness off the line. Currently I am trying to bulk just a bit and get to 195 while dropping to about 15% body fat. The nutrition side of everything I am currently destroying, have everything balanced and measured. Supplements I am using currently:
A whey/creatine blend pre-workout on days I lift (usually 3 times a week)
B BSN Syntha-6 casein blend, as a meal replacement when on the go and as a before bed meal on heavy lifting days.
C Gold Standard Whey Isolate as a post workout every now and then.
I use the above supplements to supplement my normal diet. Basically I use them to reach my protien goals.
All of the above being said, I need some good ideas for plyometric workouts to do outdoors with my training buddy. Preferably something I can merge with ball handling skills (i.e. Catching, handoffs, etc.) I am attempting to walk on as FS and RB, so I need to get my 40 time down to about a 4.4second 40 yard dash. I am currently at 4.9 second.
I have already been doing sprints, box jumps, and shuttle runs. As far as long distance endurance goes, I'm not worried about that as I spent 2 months, very recently, doing an hour of running a day 6 days a week. (I actually ripped off the Rocks "Hercules" training routine).
If there are other lifts I could do that would help, don't hesitate to add them as I am always looking for ways to increase my acceleration off the line. Any recommendations are welcome, as I do not have access to the training staff that the scholarship athletes currently have.
