Hi guys,

As the title of the thread states I have lordosis. What this means is that there is an natural inward curve or "arch" in my lower back. This has caused me a lot of pain when trainning and is a big pain when trying to maintain a flat back when deadlifting. If anyone has any advice or tips on how to get rid of or minimize this it will mean a lot.

Thank you

Hey man,

So sorry to hear about your lower back pain. If I may, what are you currently doing for exercise and stretching to help fix this issue?

I need to know what you are currently doing before I can suggest more.

Happy Holidays!

Thanks for responding Scott,

I have been doing resistance band stretching along with foam rollers. I have been doing a stretch called the warrior pose which I believe is starting to help because I feel my hip flexrs stretching.

With excersizing I try to deadlift to help keep my back flat and stretch out along with the excersize good mornings.

I think what is also causing the pain is for rugby the position I play it has me almost being squished in between two players. I love rugby and want to be able to perform at my best so if you could please keep me some excersizes or tips to helpo with my lower back pain that would be great

Hey mate, a natural lordosis is perfectly fine. When you get a hyperlordosis however it can create pain in the lower back. Here are my suggestions to help this:

  • Stretch your hip flexors and quads
  • Strengthen your abs
  • Strengthen your hamstrings
  • Create more pelvic motion through pelvic tilt exercises https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPlrLioSp0Y
