Hey Scott,

As your PPL program suggests i should be doing two days of circuit training over the course of week. I'm afraid because i'm already a skinny guy and wondering if i do those circuits(more calories being burnt) i'm gonna lose all my fat which is less. What do you suggest?! Is the circuit suitable for my case as well? should i replace them with some other strength exercises using weight?

I'm a skinny guy too and I definitely don't cut the circuits out. If you're doing 2 circuit days a week, that means you're on month 1 which is for beginners. If you're a beginner, I'd be willing to bet you would greatly benefit from doing the circuits because I'm a beginner too and they really helped to increase my cardio/endurance, which lets me bring way more intensity to the PPL days.

As one example, trying to push myself on squats used to be very hard. I'd have to stop lifting long before my muscles would fail due to my poor cardio. After doing circuit-a for a few weeks, my conditioning improved greatly. Now I can get a much better workout when I squat because I can push myself way harder than I used to.

Just make sure you increase your caloric intake to make up for the additional calories you burn.

Hope that helps.

@patrick21 I agree with @vague_advice! Doing the circuits is actually going to be beneficial for your, particularly for your overall endurance. However, I can see where you're coming from.

Basically it comes down to your @mealplan - if you think you're going to be able to eat enough food to stay in a surplus while still doing the circuits, by all means keep them in there.

But if you struggle to make yourself eat enough food to grow, then it might not be a bad option to skip the circuits for now. The PPL routines themselves will still build good endurnace and it will just save you some extra calories.

Let me know what you think as to which route would suit you better!
