    Should I Cut or Bulk

    June 1, 2019, 2:00 pm

Hi Scott, I have a question of should I continue to cut or shuld I start to bulk. A little info on me: I'm 5 ft 10 inches and weigh 184 with 15% body, measured with calipers (averages of Thigh 18mm, Chest 10mm, Belly 23mm).

I’m 59 years old and have lost about 110 pounds in the last year and 5 months. I have been working out with free weights for the whole time (I built a home gym in my workshop). For most of my life I was at 8% body fat until about the age of 50. I used to weight train and run most of my life. I was 20 years in Marine Recon and then was recruited by the CIA to do the same job more pay. I was in Afghanistan and had wounds to my lower back. I’ve had 4 surgeries to my lower back in eight years with implants and grafts. I haven’t been able to walk until about 2 years ago. Of course, I gain a bunch of weight. Last January I was cleared to start working out.

I’ve been doing your PPL and love it. I’ve included some photos of me. Sorry about the one with my back but on the lower portion is what you get after shrapnel and multiple surgeries.

My question is should I continue to cut (I started at 42% body fat) or should I start a lean bulk. My average BMR is 2167. My Macros are 168 grams protein, 55 grams fat, 125 grams of carbs. Calories are 1667. I’ doing the PPL routine and running 5 days a week about 40 minutes each.

This mornng I did another caliper measurement and my bodyfat is now 13.8%. I'm still not sure if I should just continue with cutting or is it time to bulk.
