i am an intermediate , in the last 2 weeks i started to feel mild pain in my back midway between low and mid-back not in standing position but specially while sitting without resting my back and some other positions but i don't know what is the cause of this pain actually, i took a rest for the last 3 days but no relief , i think maybe my hip flexors are some kind tight as i feel some relief when i stretch them so would this be a slight APT or some thing else , and if this is the case should i keep deadlifting and sqauting or not ?

thanks in advance..

It would help if you could pin-point what caused the pain.. but in the meantime you should be stretching it and your hips, yes, because there could be some tightness in there that is causing the pain.

Can you do squats and deadlifts without back pain? Or was it after those movements that you got the back pain? It could simply be a form issue with heavy weight or something.

It's hard to say whether it's APT.. do you have a bit of a butt tilt when standing normally? I explain everything in this video about the symptoms and fixes for it, so take a look and maybe you can try some of these for your back pain, even if you don't actually have APT.

I saw the video and yes i have a very slight tilt but this was for long time without any issue but i will keep stretching just want to know for how long stretching could give me a better results ?

Yes, i can do squats and deadlifts with good form without pain but i thought maybe i should stretching my lower back instead of strengthening it !!

thank you ..

UPDATE :

I think it was just an inflammation or some tear in the lats or whatever was the muscle , i used a topical analgesic & anti-inflammatory and every thing started to go fine and the pain is decreasing slightly ..

I am also still donig hip flexor stretches as i believe i have some tightness there ..

Thanks for everything ..

Doesn't look like you have APT really, not bad anyway. Glad you found a solution to the pain though! I suggest you still do those lower back mobility warm-ups every now and then, and also do some of these warm-ups before your squat/deadlift to help avoid future injuries.

Hey guys. New to the program. My main concern is when proforming deadlifts. I have two herniated disc's in my lumbar spine. One between my L4-L5 and one between my L5-S1. One is 5mm and the other is 7mm posteriorly protruding. Anything over 3mm is considered significant. Now, I still live an active lifestyle. I have agravated my back injury before and its no fun. Any other exercises you guys would recommend?

NADA.

Sorry to hear about your two herniated discs @Travisreid, that sucks man. Unfortunately, there's nothing that really replaces the deadlift 😕 But as long as you can still find exercises to work your hamstrings, glutes, quads, then you should be OK. I can understand that it's not worth the risk for you to deadlift.
