I know ive probably asked a few questions today :-) living on this forum at the moment.....

So i saw a vid on how to execute a Romanian Deadlift (i usually do this every couple of weeks just to ensure my form is correct and pay more attention to the finer details) when i started a few months ago. I usually have an overhand grip and do the exercise.

I saw a video last week by SH and he has one overhand grip and one underhand grip (cant find that video just yet) so is there a reason why this type of grip should be used instead of both hands having the overhand grip?

Thanks

Typically you can grip the bar easier with an overhand AND underhand (switch) grip @EssCee.

If you want to really test out your forearm strength, just use an overhand grip. If you want to see how much weight you can lift overall, you're better off using a switch grip :)

@EssCee, you can live here as much as you would like bro!

So I use the switch grip like @JoeHurricane said to lift more weight.

If you want to ONLY focus on the hamstrings and take grip out of the equation, you should use wrist wraps.

The switch grip puts an equal amount of fingers on each side of the bar - 4 fingers from one hand and the thumb of the other. This makes holding the bar and keeping it from rolling in your hands easier especially as you increase the weight. With the dual overhand grip, only your 2 thumbs are on the inner side of the bar.
