Hello guys, I would really need some advice on how to make a choice between two types of peanutbutter. I am on a gaining muscles period and I really need to lower a bit more my fat intake (it seems so hard).

So here is the image of the nutriotional information of the two peanut butters.

I would also like to know what is the "fat > of which saturates" value and the "carbs > of which sugars" one and what should I look for on theese two.

Hey there :)

to be honest i wouldn't buy either or.

Both are typical comsumer peanut butters with lots of emulgators, which in most countrioes of the world don't even need to be listed on the ingredient labels on the product.

(i am very thankful for living in a country where almost everything has to be listed)

It becomes even worse when you take fat reduced ones or stupid stuff like that : http://bmedia.fooducate.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Skippy-Reduced-Fat-Peanut-Butter-Shame1.jpg

The best choices for peanut butter are unfortunately the not so cheap ecologic / natural ones.

And here i also don't refer to Skippy all natural, as it isn't so natural either, because they pestered it with emulgators and other nasty things to remove the need to stir it first.

Look for ecological, natural peanut butter, the best type actually "IS" the one that has an oil puddle on top in the glas and needs some stir before you take some out.

Or you do what i did, and just get real peanuts, or walnuts or brazil nuts, hazelnuts etc directly. (But don't get those roasted, salted and preprocessed snack bags, just plain the good old natural ones :))

I get your point and I ll try to find some ecological one, but tell me though which one of theese two seems to be slightly better? I am trying to understand which ingredients and of what amount should I have in mind when trying to make choices.

the problem with both brands, from my perspective, is that many of the ingredients used are not even listed :( those commercial peanutbutters are filled with additional stuff and emulgators, chemicals and such.

If you need to do any choice then always go for the one that is around 4 gram carbohydrates per 100 grams (and not 4-6 per serving of 32 grams) and only has seasalt added, and look for stuff that has about 98% pure peanuts at least. Looks for natural ones / ecologic ones that have some clear oil layer on top, then you know really not much chemicals have been added to turn it into some stirfree stuff.

I see, and what about the "of which sugars" value for example? the 1st one has about 9g out of 13g and the second about 3g out of 11g. The second is better or maybe there are secret ingredients in the second so, the best choice out of theese two is the 1st?

I am just trying to understand the concept....I am sure I am going to find some ecological ones that you mentioned before.

the higher the amount of "oh which are sugars" is the more refined sugars have been added. Keep in mind that the nuts themselves also contain natural sugars, though.

in generel i'd go with the one that has less added sugars in it as i wrote earlier. But all together i still stick with what i said and suggest you get complete natural peanut butter or simply a bag of nuts directly =) which is still the best choice !
