I work out at California Fitness here in Singapore.  California Fitness is owned by 24Hour Fitness in the U.S. so you can kinda get an idea what it is like.  Not the best, but it has most of the stuff I need to train.  I miss my old Gold's Gym in Santa Clara, CA, and my old World Gym in Framingham, MA and Gold's Gym in Ashland, MA - which is where I first started lifting in 1987 after lifting at home for 3 years.  They had the best equipment and weren't "fru-fru" gyms with things I didn't want or use and didn't want to pay for like swimming pools, basketball courts, saunas, etc.  Nothing wrong with them but I prefer an "old school" gym.

The best "old school" gym I ever trained at was back in 1989 in Daytona Beach, Fl during Spring Break.  I forget its name but this was something right out of the 60's and I could easily see Arnold, Franco, Frank Zane, and Dave Draper training here.  Dumbbells up to 160Lbs.  No machines other than an awesome Hack Squat and your pre-requisite cable machines for back, tris, pecs, etc.  It was small and not flashy but it was the best gym I ever saw and used.

Joey,

It was.  They don't have many gyms like that anymore :-(
