BCAAs - Here's why...

  • They promote protein synthesis
  • They can decrease the effects of DOMS
  • They increase the testosterone to cortisol ratio
  • They allow for greater intensity exercise without the compromise of muscle loss

Studies show that glutamine doesn't actually have any favourable benefits in terms of muscle performance, body composition or muscle protein degradation. However, there is anecdotal evidence that glutamine has positive benefits when "cutting." This may be due to glutamines ability to curve cravings.

If you are talking about BCAA tablets I would recommend taking 6 throughout the day; 2 in the morning, 2 during training and 2 in the evening

May I also add that anecdotal evidence suggests anywhere up to 20 tablets a day but I seriously think this isn't viable and slightly unecessary

Spot on Daniel.

Our bodies naturally produce glutamine... but not BCAAs.  Since I started taking them daily I have noticed a real difference in my body.

Gagysha, I take 2 scoops of AMINO-X a ay for my BCAAs. :)

Uh, what? Foods high in protein are great sources of BCAAs, e.g. chicken, turkey, eggs, fish, cashews, liver, lentils, etc.

I've never seen the need to spend extra money on a BCAA supplement. Most folks who train already focus on a moderate-high protein intake. Heck, even whey protein is sufficient. Approximatedly 30% of whey protein is BCAAs so about 2 scoops will yield roughly 15,000mg of BCAAs.
