Is the nation a fan of weight gainers?

What's going on Nation,

As you might guess from my profile picture - I am ectomorph. I'm having a hard time to gain mass. It went great so far (I'm taking the gym life serious now for like 7-8 months) and I kinda wanna keep with "normal" nutrition (without help of a weight gainer).

I mean the weight gainer helps a lot becuase it has lots and lots of carbs in it, but on the other hand it is not cheap.

For your further information, my daily macros are 3249kcal; 523g carbs, 151g protein and 60g fat. The number for carbs is very high, but I want to get bigger!!

Let me know what you think, nation! :)

Drew,

You just need to be careful with some weight gainers as they pack a lot of sugar to get the calorie and carb counts up. All the different body types - ecto, meso, endo - really mean is how efficiently your body processes and uses calories for energy and growth. Ectomorphs process calories much faster than the average person. The good news is this means you can consume much more nutritious food than the average person. My honest recommendation would be skip the weight gainer and use the money saved to buy a decent Whey protein and some quality food. It is better to put on size and strength from eating wholesome food than drinking it :-)

John is 100 percent correct. its so easy to make a much healthier weight gainer. 2 scoops of peanut butter plus 2 bananas plus milk and bamn you gotta mass gainer. I would lower down the carbs. 500 carbs will lead to excess body fat. Remember focus on THOSE LEAN GAINS. it makes so sense to bulk up and get FAT. those fat cells will never go away. Your fats are good, but raise that protein. Do you know how much is your maintaince?

right on John! You can buy in bulk at walmart or BJs.

Load up on some good complex carbs like sweet potatoes or oatmeal. I only really turn to a mass gainer if I am too busy and need to pack in calories in a very short amount of time as I can pound a shake in minutes.

If you want a HEALTHY weight gainer that isn't packed with all the processed junk the supplement manufacturers make then I suggest doing what I've been doing. Cheap, easy, tastes great and you can make it as high calorie as u NEED. I have a hard time consuming all my calories for growth so I search for other alternatives that doesn't make me feel constantly full from eating all day. I suggest u use MyFitnessPal or something similar to track the macros to meet your needs. 1 cup oats blended to oat flour, 2 whole eggs, 2 tbsp natural peanut butter, 1-3 scoops of whey protein (depending on your needs), 1 banana, 1 cup milk or substitute, and the magic ingredient 2 or more tbsp of coconut oil. I like to add some cinnamon as well. Blend, enjoy. 1000-1200 calories. You can adjust to meet your macros but this is what suits me. Completely healthy and cheap!

Kick ass!!!
