Greetings Community,

I've got two quick questions and they're about those two sepperated supplements. Firstly, 5gr L-Glutamine 3 times daily and 2gr Beta Alanine 2 times daily is a good dosage or too much? (I am 70kgs "174 lbs"). And secondly, do i have to use those supplements in circles or it is ok to use them non-stop (like Whey) ?

Thank you for your time

John

I would only recommend 10g glutamine post workout and with regards to beta alanine I would only take it pre-workout and aim for 1 - 2g. Please note with beta alanine your really must assess your tolerance as the tingly sensation can be overwhleming for some people. You don't have to cycle any of these supplements but your tolerance to the beta alanine may increase overtime if you constantly use it.

daniel is correct here, how ever i would like to ask you a question, what is it you want from taking these products and why do you feel the need to do it in the first place? what is it you believe they do for you and are they really the best suited for the job

Jake (Wilkinson207) is 100% correct here. What is it you think these supplemets will do? What are you trying to achieve? Most supplements either are un-necessary or don't deliver the desired results. Before you spend any money, make sure you know what you are getting in to.

What do you mean "tolerance in the tingly sensation" ?

Without having any offesnive attitude, and without wanting to offend any of you, i will say that this is not what i asked for. I mean i just asked your opinion about dosage of those two.Of course i respect your opinions and they count on me but thats not what i asked for. Know what i mean? Didn't want you to advise me if i need them or not. If i wanted this i would make a topic called "what does gluta and alanine do and how do they help". I 've done an extended search on the internet for those 2 supplements and their benefits and i have decided to use them. Just like creatine.

Saying it last time to be clear, did not have any intend to offend and doubt any of you or your opinions, my reply is totaly friendly and want to just get an answer in what i need!!

Thank you for your time. :)

What do you mean "tolerance in the tingly sensation" ?

It is one of the side effects of beta alanine - tingling and flushing of the skin. Since it is a non-essential amino acid, your body produces it by itself and can be raised just by eating more protein. You are only 18, why do you think you need a supplement which is better used by older adults and even then the jury is still out on if it is truly effective for muscle endurance?

I want to use the beta alanine because it is proven to help protein synthesis.. Also i've read that it is combined PERFECTLY with creatine. Don't you agree?

As far as Glutamine, i want to use it because:

Helps the immune system, brain and digestion system,

Raises the energy levels and good feeling and decreases the feeling of fatigue

Contributes on fat loss and muscle growth

You also mentioned that alanine is used byvolder athletes. Why is that? Is it unsafe for younger people???

Honestly John, I feel glutamine and beta alanine are overrated and unnescessary. They are not essential aminos and your body can produce all it needs if you eat a complete and nutritious diet. Be careful of studies that supposedly prove some supplement does something. They are usually based on suspect research/data or are sponsored by the supplement manufacturer. Even creatine, in my opinion, is overrated as a supplement. If you want more creatine, eat more meat - especially red meat. It is cheaper and easier for your body to use. Do you think the bodybuilders of old used any of these supplements? Arnold, Franco, Draper, Zane, etc? They didn't. The only things they used where a solid diet, solid training, plenty of rest, and anabolics.

At the end of the day, it is your money to spend but you are still quite young and you have all your hormones and bodily enzymes in your favor. Assuming "more is better" is misguided and potentially dangerous. I assure you that any supposed "benefit" you think glutamine or beta alanine will give you will be 90% psychological and 10% physical.

As far as creatine i did see a difference. Can lift more weights, need less rest time, my muscles recover faster amd have gained pretty much good ammount of muscle mass (i am not refering to 1kg of water i gained as it is temporary). Pretty the same with the bcaas i am trying! The only negative of this situation is the really bad taste of bcaas!! Haha

So i want to test how glutamine responds to myself and if i see some benefits i will keep using it, otherways not.. Futhermore, in the end i will have a solid opinion about those supplements.

As far as beta alanine you sayed that it is used byvolder athletes mainly and because of that i need to do some more search before using it. If i decide to use it at the end..

John,

That is fine. Creating works fine I just prefer getting it from food versus supplements :-). As for Beta Alanine, it is supposed to increase muscular endurance so a lot of what I found on the internet referred to tests with older athletes - older being in their 30s :-)

I have no recommendations on dosages as I have not used nor plan to use glutamine or beta alanine - sorry :-(

As for BCAAs, I take capsules as I too found the powder nasty tasting.

In my opinion glutamine does aid with digestive problems but that is all its good for. It doesn't help with recovery, strength or mass building. I also use beta alanine and I do pesonally like it. It maybe a massive psychological factor but my workouts are always better with beta alanine. After all who cares whether its psychological or physiological as long as its an improvement?

Agree at all your points! Right now i am using just creatine, whey and unflavoured Bcaas. I 've seen very good difference to my workouts and body. I will try the alanine and glutamine and if i seebenefits i will keep using those 2 along with the others! But best supplement in my opinions is the creatine! Amazing results.
