Hi there! Got a question for you! I want to buy BSN Amino-X but i don't know the dosage protocol and i need some help here!! First of all, WHEN i should dring Amino-X? I mean, when i wake up? Before workout? During workout? After workout?? Secondly, shall i use it in circles like creatine (some weeks using it and some weeks not) or it is like protein and i can use it non stop? Closing, based on my age and weight, how many gramms should i use every time??

Thank you for your time.

John

- Doesnt it have directions on the bottle? I mean from the website?
- Amino acids ( if you supplement extra), havent been shown to help a lot, but they help most if you take them around your workout. I would use them before, during and after. Sip on a bottle if possible. You wont see A TON of difference if you take them in the morning, but to be honest you wont see much different at all, if your nutrition is already spot on.
- Creatine doesnt have to be used in circles. There is no research that suggests that so far. You can use it 365 days a year, no problem.
Same with Aminos. No need to cycle them. You are just wasting time.
- As for the grams, I would use a normal dosage according to the label on the bottle.

I believe with Amino-X, 1 scoop is a serving of I think 10g BCAAs. One scoop is all you'll need at one time.

Here is when, in my opinion, you should take it:

  • During your workout, this is when I used to take it (I now use a different brand)
  • If you are doing fasted cardio
  • If you are going long periods without out consuming any food.

As Kostas said there is no need to cycle it as it is basically BCAAs with a few added chemicals (beta alanine off the top of my head).

Scott doesn't get mad at all about any suppliments that we talk about. He actually ecourages everyone to talk about any and all supliment advice that we dcan give. Of course he's a sponsered athlete by BSN and he loves the stuff but he's never puts anyone down for using something different.

Anyways, I use BCAA sport for my amino acids. I've been using this product for a good 3 years now and it get's the job done. I can definitely feel more enurance and lean muscle gains when I use it compared to when I don't take it. Here's a link to my preworkout shake here:

My Preworkout Shake

In my experience, when looking for a good protein, you want one that gives you the most protein in each scoop and also has a low fat content. The protein I take has 7 different types of protein, 32 grams per scoop, with only one gream of fat.

If you're also interested in seeing what I take for my post shake, that can be found here:

The only reason as to why I don't you Amino-X anymore is simply due to the fact it is too expensive for me. I have also tried Amino energy by ON, bulkpowders intraworkout and Aminotaur. I must admit my favourite was Aminotaur, closely followed by Amino energy. Now I'm currently trialling just simple flavoured BCAAs from bulkpowders without the added supplements eg beta alanine just to see if I notice a difference within my training. If I do notice a difference however I'll just buy the added supplements separately.

In terms of whey protein, ON is a very reputable choice, if you can afford it. When buying a protein you just want a simple whey protein, you should look for the serving size and how many servings you get per container. In terms of what you should look for, generally just a whey protein that has minimal extra supplements added.

Ye, you 're right about ON.. It is pretty expensive. As soon as BCAAs i may buy Amino Energy by ON. What protein do u use by the way? I mean, do u use any cheaper than ON's cause i don't think i will be able to afford it in the future.. And do you know any cheap but pretty good proteins to suggest me? Sorry for being so many questions but haven't used suplements before and i need some directions!

Yeah or you could just try some flavoured BCAAs? The protein I use is this one performance protein. Its good, cheap and does the job. I spend so much on supplements I always try and save money where I can without sacrificing on quality.

Kosta in all abrands the directions of aminos write that i should take them in the morning, before, and/or after workout! I cannot take them DURING the workout? It won't help? If not, what can i take DURING the workout ?

Daniel what do you think is better? Taking aminos or taking specialized, only BCAAs? And second, the suggestions of the aminos write that should be taken before and after. That means that if i take them DURING the workout they won't help ??

I use Optimum Nutrition (ON) exclusively. I use their Gold Standard Casein, Pro Complex (whey and egg) protein, and BCAA capsules. ON is quality stuff and a USP (United States Pharmacopoeia) manufacturer - meaning it follows the quality and safety standards required of US drug manufacturers even though it is not required to by law.

Is Amino-X ok for a 15 year old to use? Unlike NO-XPLODE the Amino-X site says nothing about age but once I ordered the jar and got it in the mail I saw that it said only for healthy adults on the jar. Does this matter or can I use it at 15? Thanks! PS I am brand new to the site :)

You can definitely use it. Its just a disclaimer. Amino acids are healthy and good for anyone.

I would personally go with just flavoured BCAAs during your workout. During a workout is by far the most effective time to take BCAAs.
