This is more or less not a routine but a way of improving these major factors: Willpower and push up ability. It's very simple we are going to do 300 push ups in as many sets and in the best time frame possible. This is to improve how many we can do in a row, since I want to get up to 218 in a row and my current is 118 I need to build myself up fairly quickly. (This is to beat my dads record) This is my score and how I finished thru:
Sets consisted of three sets pr round, with i don't know how much rest and these are the reps I used:

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20
My time: 00:25:36

Now, this is a while ago and I am looking to improve my score sometime soon ! Keep training hard Nation ! Make sure to post your results, how you did it and your time !

Oh btw, perfect form always wins, I use push up handles

Update 09.12.13:

My new score:
Reps and sets

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

My new time: 00:20:34

In other words i completely destroyed my past personal record. And the next time I do this I am deffenently getting below the 20 minute mark !

Update 28.05.2014

My new score:
Reps and sets

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

My new time: 00:18:32

I have successfully reached my goal of doing 300 push ups in under 20 minutes, with my new score of 18 minutes and 32 seconds !

Update 08.06.2016

My new score:
Reps and sets

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

My new time: 00:14:00
THATS 4:32 LESS THAN LAST TIME, PROOF OF SOME QUALITY GAINZ !

Update 09.11.2016

My new score:
Reps and sets

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

My new time: 00:12:33
So I did this like 2 months ago and got 14 mins (same as last time)... TODAY however I decided I am gonna crush it and got 12 mins and 33 seconds !

I am of course insanely happy about getting 12:33 and I can get 12 mins maybe less next time ! I still have some time to fetch in between the 50 reps and I can get through the last 50-30-20 a bit faster, so 12 mins or less is realistic for the next try !

Update 02.11.2016

My new score:
Reps and sets

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

50 - 30 - 20

My new time: 00:08:52

HOW DID I DO THIS !? I ate a pizza and drank a soda and did the 300 push ups right after, junk food gives me powahhh xD

TIPS

After the 30 reps, take as little rest as humanly possible, 10-20 seconds. Because you do not need the rest to do 20 reps you need the rest AFTER the 20 reps before you start the 50 reps. Also save time by taking as little rest as possible on the first 50-30-20 to get it out of the way fast !

IMPORTANT

I did this workout 05.05.2017 and something happend. This is very important for those who are looking to try to routine or have done it and will do it again. My wrists got tired after about 150 reps. Meaning my shoulder had to take more of the load since my wrists had to back down. This means that my shoulder took quite the beating. I essentially strained my muscle, meaning I now still one week later cant train all that well. Another week and it should be completely fine. However this is an important lesson, if you feel your wrists are giving in, it is not worth going on. In that case you may try to do the rest of the routine without the push up handles at least, or just lay it off all together.

Push up handles increase your ROM significantly!

Damn man! 118 in a row? I havent tried pushups to failure recently but I assume I can maybe do around 70. Maybe?
Just got inspired to go for 100! Keep at it man! You will reach your goal! I imagine dips would be an amazing auxiliary move that will carry on to the pushups.

Does anyone else get a lot of elbow lock, not during the exercise, when you have been doing push up routines.

Hrmmm. I am not sure exactly what you mean by elbow lock. Are you hydrating / stretching enough?

Yes to both. During the day, when my elbow is bent and I try to straighten it, it locks and I have to push through a large and sometimes painful click.

hrmm... is it staying in a certain positon for a LONG period of time? Like at a computer desk? It could be locking up due to NOT being mobile for a long time? Thoughts?

You could be on to something there. Had an active weekend away from my desk with no problems. Then after a long drive back with my arms not moving much it started again. I need to reduce how long I stay at my desk. Thanks for the adivce.

Oh, would you know why my left wrist (I'm right handed) clicks when I go down in a pushup?

Thanks

I'm late to this thread because of my join date, but it's very refreshing to see someone who understands that training willpower and mental fortitude is a crucial part self-improvement and goal attainment.

It's also excellent that you distinguish that this kind of training is not necessarily a direct stimulus to reach said goals, but a supplementary challenge to increase your mental capacity to adhere to a challenge. Excellent!
