Hello everyone ! Christmas is not far away and I thought I would make a thread like I did last year. http://scotthermanfitness.com/forums.php?pageAction=POSTS&subForumID=49&threadID=531

A lot of people were active on this thread and I had a lot of fun making it and posting in it.

This year I would like to make a similar post where we all come together and share some simple and effective workouts. Last year this was the one I posted:

10 reps each exercise, as many rounds as you feel like (and I nice walk afterwards)

V-up

Burpee

Lunges

Dips

This was a routine I did everyday for roughly 2 weeks last year and it suited me perfectly. This year I thought of a new routine that me and others can use:

The 2014 holiday season home workout:

As many rounds as you feel like of:

Burpees (push ups and jumping squats in the same rep)- 10 reps

Hand stand push ups- 5 reps, if you can not do 5 reps, do as many as you can. If you can do more than 5 reps, make a max limit of around 10.

Janda sit ups-10-15 reps

Plank hold for 1 minute

What to do if you are unable to perfom the exercises

For burpees you could first do 10 pushups and then take a small 10 second break and then do some jumping squats. Or a different squat variation such as air squats.

If you can not do hand stand push ups, my suggestion is shoulder push ups. This is a good exercise for shoulders and will leave you with similar results.

The janda sit ups can easily be replaced by sit ups, v-ups, crunches or bicycle crunches (one of my favorites)

Plank holds can be hard for some people and if you are unable to do them I suggest that you hold a push up position instead of holding your weight with your elbows.

How long should I expect the workout to last ?

Last years routine took me about 5-10 minutes to finish 3 rounds which was enough for me. I would expect the same of this workout. Obviously the more rounds you do (and the more rest you take between rounds and exercises), the longer its going to take. Nevertheless the workout is meant to be short and effective.

What to do if you do not know how to perform the exercises

I could link youtube tutorials, however I simply suggest that you google it or go on youtube and search for it youself. Why ? Because then you can find a suitable video and an answer that fits you.

The goal of this workout

This is not meant to be a hardcore bodybuilding workout. It is a simple yet effective workout that will ensure that you stay in shape during the holiday season. It is a fun workout for sure and you will feel good during the christmas dinner, knowing that you have earned this wonderful feast !

Share your thoughts and of course, post your own workouts for everyone to see !

I love it @William_Steinset!

Short workouts can be the best sometimes because you don't rest you just keep going and get a wicked burn! It's also good if you can't get to the gym to know you can still get a great workout at home.

I might have to use this if I ever feel like I have eaten too much XD

Yeah that is exactly why I like this type of training. Not getting to the gym around this busy period of time is quite common. Although I will continue with my normal 5-7 workouts for the upcoming week, I will still need to use this style of training at least once or twice !

Looks great @william_steinset! I have a pretty busy day tomorrow to get some last minute Christmas shopping done. So, this will be great to do at home. Man, haven't done handstand push-ups since high school. I may have to resort doing the shoulder push-ups.

Thanks Man!

Merry Christmas!
