Hi Scott. I know whole wheat food is supposed to be healthier than non whole wheat food because the carbs are digested slower by your body. But I saw that the GI of whole wheat bread is almost identical to that of white bread. How can that be? And if that's the case, then what is the benefit of whole wheat bread over white bread if the sugar gets broken down by your body almost at the same rate for both?

I watched the video but I'm confused. You said whole grain bread is made of the entire portion of the grain, but whole wheat bread they remove the germ. I've looked it up online from several sources and they all say that both are made from the entire grain. The only thing is that whole grain bread is made of several different grains, while whole wheat bread is made of one specific grain...wheat.
Below are three sites I looked at...I pasted the portion from each one that explains whole grain vs whole wheat. The bread I eat is labeled 100% whole wheat, and the first ingredient is stone ground whole wheat flour. So any thoughts on the info below?
Look for products that list the first ingredient as "whole wheat," "whole oats" or a similar whole grain. While "whole grains" may signify one of many types of healthy grains, "whole wheat" labels the specific grain used.
Whole wheat is merely a type of whole grain. Whole grain is an overarching category, and within it falls a number of different whole grains, including barley, brown rice, buckwheat, bulgur, millet, oatmeal, popcorn and whole wheat (to name a few). For example, a whole grain bread can be made using any whole grain kernel, while a whole wheat bread indicates a bread that is made utilizing a whole wheat kernel.
When a product is labeled whole-grain, that means it includes the entire kernel of the grain. According to Rebecca Scritchfield, R.D.N., whole-wheat is simply a subset of whole-grain that strictly applies to wheat products.

@nyyanks937 After looking at these, you might be right that 100% whole wheat is actually a type of grain, and therefore 100% whole wheat bread is probably OK. The studies I found for this video a couple of years ago might be a bit different to the information we have today.
Just make sure it is either 100% whole grain or whole wheat! Not 'includes' whole grain or whole wheat.
The only thing is I still believe whole meal is a little more processed. But thanks for sharing the info man!

Also, can you recommend any foods that are a good source of fat (aside from peanut butter, nuts, avocados, and oils...I already eat these). Thanks!

Fish can be a great source of fat, especially tuna and salmon. Also things like cottage cheese, seeds, eggs and red meat! Plus what you're having already! 💪

I already eat all those things too (except for salmon which is a little too expensive for me). Anything else that comes to mind?

@nyyanks937 Those are probably all your best natural sources of healthy fats to best honest. Just some variations on the nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, pistachios), and oils (extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil) to mix things up.
