Hey Scott !

I have a question, my friend who  both me and him are 14 years old, has been training for 2 years can squat 100 kgs, deadlift 120kgs, and bench 70kgs 1rep max.

Both of us are the same height and he weighs 63kgs while i weigh 56.

Ive been training for 8 months and i can squat 100kgs, deadlift 120kgs, and bench 60kgs 1rep max.

He does look way more aesthetic than i do while both of us have almost the same number, keep in mind I've only trained for 8 months and he has for 2 years.

Just wondering why is this, is it cause of genetics, or different types of programs, he does do a more of a traditional bodybuilding style program while i do a 5x5  "power building" program. Is this why I've gained so much strength but i don't look as aesthetic as he does ?

I do like aesthetics over strength but just the way of using a bodybuilding program makes me bored, is there really a big difference in using a more strength based program over a hypertrophy one in long term , will I look more aesthetic in the next 2 years?

Thanks

@xxdennismcxx Your programs have probably played a part, yes. If you're focusing on strength, it makes sense that you are a bit stronger, but it doesn't mean you won't build aesthetics as well. It's just that whatever you are focusing on the most will override the area you're not focusing on.

So if strength is your main goal, that's what will come the quickest. If bodybuilding is your friend's main goal, then muscle size and probably more definition (if lean enough) would come quickest for him. But also, he probably has better muscle maturity because of how much longer he has been training than you. Then genetics definitely have an impact too.

Hope that makes sense!
