Hey everyone,
As you can tell by the title, I am looking for a new Pre-Workout. I've been using C4 for a while now and absolutely love it, but at times, I do feel as if it isnt enough. I began trying a new pre-workout I was pointed to. I dont remember the name but I know I walked into a PowerBody Nutitrion Store and they told me that their pre-workout was the best, when it came to getting a kick. I didnt buy it, my bestfriend did. Honestly it gives you a ton of energy but for a short period of time. Im looking for something that will give me a burst of great energy, which will last my whole workout, also without making me crash or even making me feel like crap. I know you all have some great pre-workouts. Any feedback will help. Thanks alot guys & gals. I hope to hear from you soon. Till next time. Stay safe everyone. :)

William,

Your best to avoid pre-workouts drinks or at least cycle them (use for 6 months then stop for 6 months) in my opinion. The reasoning being is all these pre-workouts contain cafeine or stimulating herbs or sometimes both. This gives you only quick energy hence the crash after it flames out. The problem is that if you use them regularly they become a metabolic crutch. You need to train your body to produce a steady stream of stable glucose for energy from your consumed food. Pre-workouts buck this system and just dump stimulants into your system. The net effect is your body never learns to produce steady sustainable energy quickly from the food you eat.

I agree with John. You want to make sure that you cycle off of your pre workout for a while because you could really damage your kidneys if you don't give them a break.

If you have cycled off and are still looking for a new pre workout, I buy all my stuff from NutriShop and right now this is the combination I use and I love it! It gives me a serious mental focus and energy that lasts my whole workout and doesn't have me crash afterwards.

@jmboiardi,Joey_Lopez- I really appreciate the feedback guys. I've been actually wanting to get off the pre-workouts becuase I want to naturally have the energy to complete my workouts with maximum results. Meaning, I want to go harder than ever each workout without pre-workout energy. I've been doing gret lately as my C4 ran out, so Im just not gonna buy any for now. But I finally got my new protein! BSN Syntha-6 Ultra premium protein mix - Peanut Butter Cookie flavor - it tastes great! :) Thanks again guys!

Yeah, John brought up some great points. I am 100% off pre-workouts. I only use them every once in a while and when I do I use BSN N.O.-Xplode 2.0 It was SO HARD to stop using them for me because like John said, I really relied on them.

You need to cycle them... maybe even do one week with and one week without or just save it for those days you REALLY need them.

On a side note, I love drinking my BSN AMINO-X. Nothing beats filling up on those BCAAs!

Erica and I just filmed a protein pancake mix video that calles for BSN SYNTHA-6 ISOLATE... you should try it with your peanutbutter cookie flavor! could be delicious! Video coming on Tuesday! #HTH

So I thought I would give my two cents if you are in the market for pre-workouts. I stopped using commercialized pre-workouts because they are filled with so much stuff. Instead my husband and I build our own. I buy a bottle of L-Arginine/L-Citrulline and a bottle of No flush Niacin. These are the two main components when creating a pump from pre-workout supplements and in reality, they are all you need. In addition to pre-workout benefit, these can be taken on non-workout days as well as they are great for overall cardiac health and cholesterol. I take 1500mg of Arginine (3 pills) and 500mg of niacin (1 pill) much cheaper than buying a tub of pre-workout powder as well. You don't need to cycle off of these because as I said, they are great for overall health. I buy these at GNC currently

Hey Michelle,

I completely agree with you about the commercialized of pre-workouts and that its best to create your own. I saw you take arginine and just thought I would share my opinion. There is a supplement called Agmatine which is a pre-cursor to Arginine and has shown more promise in studies in terms of effectivness of creating the "pump" through NO secretion. Also have you considered adding beta-alanine to your mix?

Daniel,

I have definately thought about getting Agmatine! USPLabs usually has a great deal on their agmatine but I might try to find it in GNC or vitamin shoppe as well. Funny you mention it as I was just looking into it. I have considered beta-alanine to the mix as well. I have been fine tuning the pre-workout mix for the last few months and that is the next to be added.

On a side note, we recently added 2 TBSP of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar (link to webmd info on it) to our diets. First thing in the morning and then in the evening. It is a great detoxifying additive. One of it's largest benefits is lowering your bodys pH level. Having an alkaline system actually aids in better muscle building, recovery time and overall health!

Yeah if you get it let me know if you notice a difference. I've heard about this apple cider vinegar but haven't really thought about adding it to my nutrition. Have you noticed any differences with it? I've always loved the addition of detoxifying additives to my nutrition, they seem to perk my body up.

Going back to the pre-workout topic, have you tried taurine? Its also on my list of future supps.

Daniel,

Haven't noticed much with the addition of the vinegar, but it's tough to swallow. I put a mouthful of water, then add a tbsp of vinegar and swallow it as fast as I can x 2. Once I start juicing I'm going to by akaline salvia test strips and see how it helps. you can add it to your favorite BCAAs if its hard to get down too.

I used to add taurine into my shakes a few years ago. I liked it for the energy effect it had. It takes a good amount of caffeine to get me going to the taurine was nice. I haven't added it back in yet as the arginine and niacin are doing a good job at the moment.

Citrulline Malate in studies has shown to be more effective than Arginine and Agmatine. Check out the pre workout "Pre Jym" on bodybuilding.com

I love N.O. but I'll switch between that and a new pre-workout called Epic Power. Its fun to cycle off and swtich up your pre-workouts it will definetly show you how strong your body really is when you cucle off for a while.

I'm currently using two pre-workouts at the minute, both are made by Pr-Supps called Dr Jekyl & Mr Hyde. tHey are both completely diffrent as one offers low stims with great pumps and mental focus where as the other is off the scale with stims and makes you go crazy. I like to swithch them up too, however the high stim one is great for when i'm feeling a bit low when I'm on my low/no carb days and really give me the kick I need ;-)
