Thanks for sharing a day of your meals and for explaining the effects of simple and complex carbs. I tried the oatmeal and protein and it was good, I’m going to use that a lot in the future!
Good morning, I view the video where you discussed your meal plan for the day, which included working out in the afternoon. My question is, what meal plan should I follow if I workout at 5am, specially the carbs? I started doing HIIT training around 6pm for 20 minutes x 3 days per week, in addition to the morning workouts x 4-5 times a week (approx. 30-40 minutes sessions).
In your case @armynurse I would aim to have a high-ish carb meal for dinner the night before you workout, and then a good carb/protein meal after your workout in the morning. If you have your dinner with carbs after your HIIT that would be a good option, or if you still wanted to go light on the carbs at night, you could always make a shake with oats and fruit (e.g. bananas, blueberries) that you can grab in the morning and chug before your workout :-) If you're going to train fasted in the morning, then it might be a good idea to grab some BCAAs to sip on.
Well that was probably an initial surge in your weight due to the added calories. But, if you gain another 2lbs this week, cut back a little bit just to slow it down. Think about it.. if you gained even 1lb per week for a 6 month bulk.. that would be 26lbs.. and if you're a beginner you're only looking at around 25lbs of pure muscle in your first 12 months. So if you're gaining at 2lbs a week consistently it's probably a bit too much fat for what you want.
Thank you Scott for the well informed video! It made me rethink about macro and preparation for my meal.
A quick question bumps out of my mind as I watch your video, how do I calculate calories and macros for food that does not have labels for their macronutrients and calories? Food such as organic vegetables grown from my backyard?
Hi Scott, this video is great. Its good to see how you calculate your macros through the day. I have a quick question on this though. How long after your workout would you have your main meal. I know you need to have your post workout meal as soon as possible, but what about the meal after the post workout one?
Thanks bro! Honestly @francis_taylor1980 I just east as soon as I get home. Doesn't really matter "when" but I like to eat my last meal a few hours before bed. :-D
Hey scott! I don't really know where else to go, but I need help!
I am a teenager, I'm 17 years old, 5'8, and weigh 158 pounds, however I look fat, because of my body fat percentage.
I am trying to get rid of my body fat, but after countless hours of research and googling, I feel overwhelmed! It's like every other website is saying the opposite of the next website, everything is contradicting, so I do not know who to trust... I just want to get rid of my body fat and get leaner
Also, I play basketball, and at my current health situation, I am at a huge disadvantage. I know getting into basketball shape doesn't happen overnight, I know it takes time, but I truly have a burning passion and determination to do whatever it takes, however long it takes! I just don't know where to start, I just need some direction. And since I'm only 17, I dont have the money for 1 on 1 assistance service or especially a personal trainer.
Don't be overwhelmed @theepicmo! With a simple meal plana nd program we can get you on track IMMEDIATELY!! Can you give me some information as to what your current daily macros are? Also, I would like to get you on my 12 week PUSH,PULL,LEGS program too!!
Love this video 😀. My question is how much do you spend monthly on groceries to eat the way you do in this video? I know the prices of the supplements because I also use BSN products. So I guess my question is how much on just the foods including the true gains pasta. Also where can I buy the pasta and the chip things you were eating lol?
Hey Scott! Thanks for the video! Is that a full measured cup of dry oats in your preworkout meal? Also have the same doubt as the european mate down below... As I cannot get the true gains pasta out of the US, but you replied in another video (maybe just link me to that video?)
I noticed that the link for your True Gains brand of snacks and food doesnt work. Have they been discontinued??? http://muscularstrength.com/true-gains

Hi Scott,
I usually take casein protein shake or cottage cheese before sleep, hope that's fine?
Is milk also ok to take before sleep at night ?
Great! It might be easier to keep track if you post in the @forums with any more updates 😁
got it scott...Thanks..will keep you updated...

Thank you Scott! Much appreciated!
you can use my @mealplan app and just pick the food item and "size" of it. It will be close enough to track my friend!
